I use the stands because I don't want the figures to fall. Some day I might buy clear stands, but till then the HT stands are here to stay

Its awesome that you picked up the Royal Guards to "protect him" (lmao). I remember that moment when Yoda knocks them out was a major crowd pleaser!

I wish HT offered a dio of his Death Star area so I could display him and Vader watching Luke watch the rebellion outside.

I just rewatched the PT for the first time in a while and I think Mcdiarmid's performance was really hammy especially as the Emperor, I might get a Senator/Chancelor Palpatine figure but I don't really care for a PT Emperor. I think he was kind of similar in TROS, but his ROTJ performance was great.

The emperor is a tough character because mystery is his greatest quality. The more you learn about him the less intimidating he is.

When taken in the context of all 10 films I feel now that Palpatine became one of the most far fetched characters in the whole series. We dont know why he is powerful; we hear a story about how he killed his master, but it seems kind of simple, we dont know how he became a senator, and now we dont know how he had a family.

Originally he was just a plot device to allow vader to be redeemable i suppose.

Just like Yoda. The more info and content put out there about them they are both diminished. It's like Di$ney dont know storytelling 101 these days. Oh wait the goal is $ not storytelling, maybe that's the difference with the new trilogy versus the old ones :monkey3

Exactly, yoda was a means to an end for luke, and that was all he was intended to be. I do like how they have handled the yoda species so far in mandalorian but its still early.

I think the little we know works. I don't think he should have returned in IX but Johnson put Abrams and Terrio in a position where there was nothing else to do really.

But for me he's pretty much one of the greatest movie bad guys of all time. The kind and cunning politician who the heroes trusted and saw as a friend for decades until he turned out to be their worst fear and greatest enemy. Just the definition of evil. There's scenes in Revenge of the Sith that are sad and hard to watch because of his malevolence.

For me the worst moment where I felt the movie "got serious" was when Anakin cut off Windu's arm and Palpatine fries him. The evil way he relishes in being able to give Windu "the full power of the Dark Side" is for me when you finally understand why Vader, for 20 years, feared and worshipped this guy. Vader up until ESB seems fearless and unbreakable so when you see him bow before the Emperor's hologram you kinda start to wonder why he would bow before anyone. That scene where Palpatine kills Windu finally answers that question 25 years after ESB. This is something 100% grotesque and unnatural. It scares even Vader.

too bad windu didnt have 2 sabers in an X shape to prevent palps from shutting down his lightning....is that how it worked?

It was ridiculous TBH. Oh well.

For me personally, the saga ends with TFA. That scene where Rey hands Luke his Father's lightsaber is the final scene in "The Skywalker Saga". TLJ & TROS don't exist in my personal canon haha

In my personal canon, Episode VIII starred Luke Skywalker, who in 2 1/2 hours wiped out more First Order troops than Vader did rebels, Kylo Ren begged his uncle for forgiveness and joined him thus redeeming himself, Snoke didn't die, Rey & Kylo dueled the Force-sensitive crossguard lightsaber-wielding KOR in the best lightsaber fight ever, Finn didn't become a useless character, Poe didn't become a useless character, Leia didn't become a useless character....

Maybe if Abrams had been allowed to do the whole trilogy I'd be able to keep VIII & IX in canon.

Don't be a child, i know that you say "my personal canon", but why dont you try to open your head for the masterpiece that The Last Jedi truly is, Rise Of Skywalker is a shame for the whole franchise, J. J. Abrams was the one who **** on star wars with his copy and paste of the original trilogy

The Last Jedi was terrible. Not just as a SW movie but as a movie in general. TFA laid solid groundwork and fired on all cylinders in setting up the ST. Johnson wrecked it all.

Abrams needed TWO movies to undo the damage TLJ made to the ST. Lucasfilm should have gone the Infinity War/Endgame route and given Abrams 5 1/2 hours to wrap up the saga and undo TLJ instead of 2 1/2.

Feige is way smarter than Kennedy though so I'm not surprised really.

why do you praise JJ if he is the one who just did a poor remake of the original trilogy? I like TFA, i love TLJ but TRS made me feel nothing, its a poor movie with excelente CGI and sound but its just so full of internet theories that the movie feels empty
but i agree that the rise of skywalker should been a longer movie, 3 hour movie like the last avengers movies

Personally, space mutiny had less plot holes than TLJ, (and there is a character killed in one scene that you see in the background of a following scene). Between space leia, light speed destroying capital ships, ships running out of gas, "hold", lightsaber ballet, and 6 breasted seal milk, I dont understand how any star wars fan likes that film, but its 2020... :)

Between space leia: she has the force, the force is like inside a mistery box, it manifest a special set of power for each force user. she shielded herself like a force bubble
light speed destroying capital ships: dude its more reasonable than let a farmer inside a xwing to take the wining shot on the first deathstar
lightsaber ballet: dude did you really watch star wars?
breasted seal milk:where do you think milk come from? cows, so where do you think space milk like the one from episode 4 came from? luke was a farmer before before being a jedi

Ben Solo and Zombie Palpatine make TROS watchable.

TLJ is unwatchable.

The Royal Guards look better displayed with the Emperor, as they are meant to be in the scenes with him (and/or Vader) instead of being displayed alone or with other figures, plus the cool bright red brings color to the display. And that Yoda scene was in ROTS, these are ROTJ Royal Guards, look for the differences in costuming ;)

I like how Palpatine owned Maul and Savage in Clone Wars Season 5. Palpatine is a beast. I'm rewatching the Clone Wars series and that one episode I watched last night.

Hadn't noticed that! Wow!

I rewatched TROS tonight and his zombie look is something I would purchase. Its pretty scary. The dead eyes, smooth colorless skin and mummy hands are pretty creepy. Hopefully they figure out how to sell the figure with the crane that moves him as a stand of sorts. He seems to have no legs so when the crane moves him its extra scary.

Second watch made me appreciate him more in TROS.

OMG! I can't believe how big his throne is! You don't realize it until it's in your hands. I finally broke down and picked it up from TA this weekend and it arrived today. It commands such a presence!
