3 years, but for a movie that was a box office bomb, and starring an actor and version of the character that are looking increasingly likely to be abandoned. I can see why this is not a huge priority right now, just like Cyborg.

Seriously though, if they wanted they could have turned it around for the Superman character any time after BvS with one crowd pleasing film starring Henry Cavill. McQuarrie and Cavill pitched what I do not doubt would have been a successful film. Look at what was done with Wonder Woman and Aquaman solo films. Frickin' Aquaman made $1B+.

I say again... Aquaman (!!!) made over a billion.

The only reasonable explanation I can think of for delaying the next Superman solo film is that JJ Abrams has so much clout right now that perhaps he has wanted to make a Superman film over the last few years and they have just been waiting to close the deal after AT&T's acquisition of WB. Plus, Abrams obviously has had his hands full with SW Episode 9.

I have never bought the argument that WB feels that Superman just isn't a successful IP. I think that's nonsense.

1978's Superman in today's dollars would have taken in $1.18B

If JJ Abrams makes a Superman film it will make $1B.

I would say they didn't show Supes because
a). They don't have space for everything
b). They typically don't show a lot of figures which are very close to coming out. Priority on the new ones.
c). And yes DC is a lower priority. Deal with it.

I have Supes ordered as well. He'll come once the Endgame hype has died.

My sentiments also. I can understand people’s frustration, but I can also understand HT’s thinking. They’re a business and they’re simply going where the money is. Sure you want to be loyal to all of your customers as much as possible, but right now, after the massive success of EG and the MCU in general, it’s a matter of catering to and pleasing say (random numbers here) 200,000 fans vs 20,000 fans. The former is going to take precedence every time.

At this point you either simply just be patient and get it when you get it, or opt to cancel due to impatience and never get it at all.

Here is the head sculpt Star Ace will make. Well at least HT will not deliver accurate Justice League head sculpt. LOL

From what I've seen of Star Ace, I don't want them anywhere near Superman. Who would be good though, I wonder.... Blitzway maybe.

I just want a company that would be glad to make DC figures and would treasure the license. I've been a HT fan for 10 years but enough already, they have no business holding onto licenses they don't care about. 9 out of every 10 figures is a Disney property, they might as well go into an exclusive partnership at this point.

Not really Hot Toys fault...
It's a business, of course they'll go after the bigger market.

I'm a DC fan but DC is just absolute trash right now...

Agreed. I’m generally more a fan of DC characters over Marvel, and I like roughly 60% of the films DCEU has put out and still maintain the conviction that BvSUE is the best modern day superhero film in my opinion, but the DCEU as a whole is just in a tailspin right now.

Soooo... I guess on Monday I'll get my email from Sideshow as to whether this will ship on Aug. 5, as it is currently scheduled, or whether it gets pushed back yet again. I usually hear one week before the projected ship date.

On the optimistic side they have released JL WW, JL Tac Bats, JL Aquaman and JL Flash. Kind of surprised Flash was released before this figure but whatever. Not sure what order the JL line was announced in, but maybe WW and Aquaman got moved up in the que for release due to the solo films doing well.

I don’t know. These things have to be released in Hong Kong first before sideshow gets them. I’m expecting more delays here. But hopefully soon as they need to pump these last two figures out to start working on there new releases.

Well, we did just get JL Aquaman and Flash, that's mainly why I'm hopeful.

Ship from SSC on August 5th? There’s no way that’s happening. The figure hasn’t even shipped to SSC yet.

A figure releases in HK, then from there it’s usually 6-8 weeks before SSC receives it and it starts shipping from SSC.

Just got an email from SSC 10 mins ago. Pushed back to September. [emoji30]

Even September is optimistic. It would have to release in Hong Kong in the next 2-3 weeks for that to happen and I suspect Batman will be first.

Yeah just saw my email from 3:22 AM this morning as well pushing it to 9/5.

Yeah, come to think it typically we see news of its release in Hong Kong, and it starts getting reviewed by folks with connections in HK. But it seems like it makes it to Sideshow faster than 6-8 weeks, doesn't it? As sj2106 says isn't it more like 2-3? Or maybe just 4?

Oh well, now given that it arrives no earlier than September this will be a do-not-open-until-Christmas item. I'm guessing actually something more like October or November. That's my big Christmas gift this year, looks like. And although unlikely if I get my Asmus Crown series Gandalf the Grey by then that will be too. (If I have both by then that'll be a great Christmas Day, fo sho.)

With the recent protests and riots at Hong Kong, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of things get pushed back. Tough political climate over there right now

I wonder how much it's affecting Hong Kong, though. Even though the British gave HK back, from what I've read it's still pretty independent in practice.
