Is the looseness of the hip to leg area “normal”, I’m trying to figure out what condition a open box one I picked up is and if I should be concerned.

I feel he wouldn’t stand well, if at all, short or long term with out a stand. While I’ve seen in some video reviews people standing him fine without a stand.

Any information about what is normal vs not on this kind of figure would be appreciated. Thank you!

This figure has extra articulation that allows for more posing in the hip area. NEVER pose him long term without a stand. Just in case. Diecast is a waste of time and effort when these things would benefit from lighter materials(Just in case of a fall).
I'd always have him on a stand and, if possible, put a couple of blobs of blu tack under the feet when putting him on the stand, just so his feet don't slip out from under him.

Just to give a different perspective, I've had mine standing in a case without a display stand since I opened it and I've yet to have a fall. Mine seems to stand very well, but joint tightness will play a large role.

Hi, i have both the mk2 styles & the legs are fine & capable of standing & lunging its the waists that are scary they extend a lot and feel like they might tear in half but poseaibility is great if you account for him being 7ft tall when extended. i have the mk3 which i like more but i think the mk1 has to be the best.

It's a shame it's not all made of metal. That would have been a great look.

It could be painted to look all.metal if someone had the skills and desire to do it. A all metal iron Man would probably not look as good as the details would probably not be as sharp.

Also, did you pick that one up from a member here?

No, it was a open display figure from a comic shop.
They are not super loose, they just kinda droop a little when picked up. And don’t hold until the legs spread a bit. If that makes sense.

It doesn’t seem to be a common issue from any of the (appreciated) responses. Not that I pose my figures off the stands at this point, but it didn’t feel as quality as the die cast VI and Civil War ones I have that are firm and don’t “limp”.

Didn’t they make a MK2 Iron Man that was a pre-paint version or something? Maybe I just imagined it. I could have sworn they had something like that.

The waist in mine is fine, and hold firm enough that you wouldn’t know it extends, and loose enough that when you try to extend it you don’t feel like you are ripping it in half lol

My legs are not as reliable as the consensus seems to be, which saddens me

War Machine Mk II came in today and I have to say it's one of those that has a much better presence in hand than in pics... I actually really like it but the only thing that puts me off is the insane height distance between it and the Mk III.

Diggin the retro reviews. Do you plan on continuing the series?

Sorry. I consider a retro review something like an 80s toy not something that's a year or two old. That's simply "not new" to me. I'm really glad you like them and appreciate the support but the terminology threw me off a bit since I'd honestly never really heard it used for things so recent.

Nice photos TJ. Any reason you decided to go for this one instead of the Age of Ultron version?

It was $180 and came with the Hologram, tbh. I saw the comparisons between it and the AoU version and the paint app differences seemed really minor, I'm cool on having another cheadle head, and the stand on the 3 version with the lights is really cool to me... even though I'll never use it.

I mean to be fair the figure did come out 6 years ago not a year or two. Typically reviews are done on newly released or soon-to-be released figures so you can't blame the guy for calling it a retro review.

No need to be picky about semantics, call them retro, call them new-ish, call then fresh take, etc... they are good reviews and add to the community.

I might not have considered using the term "retro", but it's not a new figure, even though it may be new to you. So, "retro" does work. His post wasn't meant in a bad way. It was more of a "Thanks for reviewing a figure most people wouldn't" type of post.
That's not meant in any way to be a slight. I personally love seeing nice reviews of *any* figure, regardless of when it came out.
And i love your enthusiasm.
I bought this one and Iron Patriot when they were released, but sold them on to finance a trip to visit my Girlfriend back when we first started seeing each other(Along with Jyn Erso Deluxe, Chirrut Imwe, ANH Ben Kenobi, ANH Leia, and four Diecast Robocop figures, lol), so it pains me a little bit seeing this guy.
But i do think it's a lovely armour. If the original War Machine was a Sherman Tank, this armour is like the Tumbler. Just as powerful, but faster and sleeker.

Thank you for this post as your explanation makes a lot of sense. I wasn't offended but just didn't "get it" (and should probably just not respond to things I don't get going forward in order to not make them become a "thing" because even though I wrote that I appreciate the support in response here we are, you know?)

I agree with your account of this suit. It's a lot more streamlined but it still gives a tough vibe in comparison to standard Iron Man armors. Did you keep or end up getting any other War Machine Armors? Also, having this do you think it's worth bothering to look forvthe patriot?

Of course.
No-one will mind if you ask for clarification on any point.
I often read posts on here that "sound" belligerent. Or that they are being nasty with their posts. But i doubt they are. I try and re-read a post to see if i can "hear it" in the nicest possible way. We are all collecting dolls, lol, so it only makes sense the majority of comments are meant in the nicest possible way.
It's always best to read it again, and if i still doesn't make sense, just ask the original poster what they meant.

When Avengers Assemble came out, i ordered the MKVII, and then got the MKVII BD. Over the next few months, i built up an IM collection of 1 to 7, plus the BD MKVII, then got the OG War Machine, Midas, WM MKII, and Iron Patriot.
But when it was revealed in IM3 they had 42 armours... I got priced out of collecting them all, and only ever bought one more armour(The Classic Colour Scheme Sneaky). Since then, i have sold a few and only have two OG MKIII, MKIV, MKVI, MVII and MKVII BD left, and they are all up for sale. If each movie had two or three armours, i would have kept collecting them all. But as there were so many i wouldn't have, i kind of lost interest, and have concentrated on getting every version of Cap instead.
As an enthusiast, i'd say that if you like the WM MKII, Iron Patriot is a beautiful variant. Much like Hot Rod. They made for a beautiful pairing. I used to have mine standing side by side, both doing the salute pose. It all depends on whether you like the Stars and Stripes look on Iron Patriot.

James Rhodes is my favorite character (thus going out of my way to buy all of this mess,) so I definitely want a Patriot but I feel that if they're going to do the Mk V (if that's what the EndGame ends up being) in Patriot colors (I'm hoping the promo colors as well,) I'd rather have that be "it" for Patriot and keep the rest as a WM evolution display... that is of course unless a great deal falls in my lap, ha.
