I think he might have hair like the justice league movie. I can't remember what figure it was but the hair was redone for the new movie. I want to say iron spider. Or thinking infinity war cap.

It's great for those that didn't buy the BvS version or care much for movie accuracy but a slap in the face for everyone else in my opinion.

I sold my BvS Superman and will be getting this so that probably makes me a hypocrite lol but I can see why many collectors aren't happy.

Yes, as someone who got the BvS figure I am clearly disappointed by this one.
My problem is not so much whether it's a BvS or JL head but rather the fact that it's a poor likeness to begin with.
HT missed an opportunity to offer a better one.
Like I said earlier, with a new Cavill head sculpt I would have bought this figure as fast as Thanos can snap his fingers.
Right now it's an easy pass, I already have everything in the BvS box and the slight costume color difference is irrelevant to me.
I do like the heat vision sculpt, so that's all I'll get.

HT didn't get where they are by being lazy.
The reason we notice when they cut corners (like they do on this figure) is because that's not their usual MO.

Agreed.

My sentiments regarding this figure as well. Although in my opinion, I think the BvS sculpt is a good likeness. My objection with this figure is the fact that they merely recycled that sculpt and didn’t fabricate an accurate JL sculpt. Once I saw they merely recycled the BvS one, I figured that I basically already have this figure in the BvS figure.

And for me personally, I have no interest in the heat vision sculpt, so it’s of little consequence to me. But as I mentioned, I still consider it a BvS accurate heat vision sculpt, since it’s still a BvS and not a JL accurate sculpt.

Different path, but my end result is the same as yours. Had they fabricated a new regular sculpt and it was good, I would have purchased this as well.

Normally I defend HT against complainers but in this instance, there is no excuse. The initial promo shot of the team years ago showed Superman with his hair parted differently, so outdated concept art isn't to blame for this. They were just being cheap by reusing the BvS sculpt.

Hoping Eleven/Vimal might produce a proper sculpt through OneSixthKit or something.

I concur that HT simply recycling the BvS sculpt was pure laziness. And the fact that they made the hair on the LED heat vision sculpt accurate to BvS indicates to me they had no intentions of fabricating a JL accurate sculpt from the beginning and planned on just recycling the BvS sculpt, being that they made the hair on the LED sculpt BvS accurate so that way the hair style on the two sculpts would be consistent.

Has the figure been released? I'm not seeing any pics of the final figure with recycled BvS sculpt.

Pls point me in the direction of pics of the final figure.

The final figure hasn’t been released yet. Here’s the specs though regarding the sculpts:

“Newly painted head sculpt” (AKA repainted BvS sculpt)

I'm still not convinced it's the final headsculpt for both of them. I mean, the body is exactly the same as BvS also, just painted a different blue. Why would Hot Toys redesign the body of Batman and not for Superman? Makes no sense to do one but not the other to me.

...hum! Good question! Let me think about this one... I know! Maybe because they don’t care?

On top of the head sculpt I think HT should have reworked the body.
On the BvS figure, the shoulders are oddly shaped and come out too far to the sides, the thunder thighs are really distracting and do not connect to the hips naturally.
The abdomen is also too narrow.
The figure does not look natural.
By contrast the HT Christopher Reeve Superman looks good at almost every angle.
The MoS one also looks better, even though he could be a bit more muscular (mostly chest and thighs).

I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

The specs for the regular non-LED sculpt specifically say, “newly painted head sculpt.” That means it’s not a newly reworked/fabricated sculpt, the way the BvS sculpt was from the MoS sculpt. So either they’re merely repainting the BvS or the MoS sculpt. All signs point to the former.

As far as the LED sculpt goes, I’m also guessing the sculpt you’ll get is the one that’s shown. Which is BvS, not JL accurate.

I'm within an inch of cancelling my pre-order for this figure. I hope they release it soon.

Newly painted sounds good to me. How old is the BvS figure 3 years old ? HT paint apps for head sculpts has definitely improved in that timespan. Although it'll be the BvS sculpt the paint apps can definitely make a big difference in HS realism.

Bring him on HT ! I'm patient though.

Sure, if you don’t already have that particular sculpt. And if the repainted one is leaps and bounds better than it, then just get the newly painted BvS sculpt and put it on the BvS accurate suited body.

As I mentioned, this figure is good for those who didn’t get the BvS version or sold it, or who just want a single general representation of Cavill Superman, and therefore, don’t mind an amalgamation of BvS and JL. It’s not a very good JL Superman figure though.

The paint apps will be very similar. Some figures from 2009 had better paint work than a lot current figures.

Snoop101 is correct though. There are some instances where older figures do have better paint apps than more recent figures. MMS90 Jungle Hunter Predator, for instance. While the overall figure is pretty lackluster compared to recent Predator figures, the paint apps on the unmasked sculpt and the armor are actually really good, and more detailed than a lot of the recent Predator figures.

Regarding the newly painted recycled BvS sculpt on this figure though, I also have to agree that the difference in the paint apps will likely be minimal. Probably a little better indeed to the point where if I had neither the original BvS sculpt or the repainted one, I’d probably go with the repainted one, but not enough to rush out and replace the original BvS sculpt with the repainted one as if the difference in paint apps between the two is night and day.

HT had the unmasked Steve Rogers sculpt for the Steve Rogers/Stealth Suit figures, then repainted it for the AoU Cap figure, then repainted it again for the CW Cap and CW BV Cap figures. The paint apps on each one looked pretty much exactly the same, only real difference was that the eyes on each were simply gazing in a different direction.

Well said Silverstar.

Believe what you want Hoody999, HT paint apps haven't changed that drastically. As I said many older figures still hold up very well to today's "standards." Look up the Terminator salvation line or how incredible The godfather still is. There will be a very minimal difference between the newer superman head compared to the old one.

We arent thinking this is canceled are we? There's been no news out there for him and didnt someone say cyborg was scrapped?

No, I haven’t heard anything about this being cancelled. And Cyborg wasn’t scrapped; he never made it to PO.
