I, unfortunately, don't have any old pics of mine to show, but I did used to use a homemade version of one of those. They create a nice, even lighting that will light your figures very well. I would definitely recommend using one! :) I would recommend one that is larger than 16" x 16" however.

They definitely work good for taking better than average pictures with quick clean backgrounds. I have a 24 inch foldable all-in-one unit that works pretty good. Think it was around $100. But it is nice as it folds all together in one piece and can be stored easily. Lights are integrated into the top and the interior is all reflective so it throws around a good bit of light. Came with four different Colors of plastic backgrounds. Here's some recent iPhone pictures.

Thanks for the advice! I found this one, same brand as before but 24x24. Is this the one that you use, or are there better options? How did you get that reflection in the 3rd photo, that looks awesome!

that's the one i have

its a few buck more, but worth it to fold it up real quick and toss under a bed.

the reflection is just from acrylic reflective sheets you put down inside...

i use these:

Awesome, thanks for the info! I think the all-in-one helps a lot, especially with space. I was able to find one by Limostudio that I could get the reflective sheets for as well. I was wondering, since I'm not familiar with this, what is the difference between these two? Is it the lighting? One was $10 so I wasn't sure what the catch was.
