I keep maps and guides when I travel, bu they're never pristine. I like them to look used because I actually used them throughout my days there.
I just keep them in a normal folder at this point.

A few years back, I started wishing I did. And yet, I still don't.

Such an easy (and cheap) thing to collect, and the park changes over time make them interesting.

Does anyone here collect/display maps/guides from the parks?

I never used to bother as a kid, but as an adult I always make a point of keeping my tickets and a pristine map. Right now they are just in boxes, but would be good to get an idea of what to do with them.

We went to Japan a couple of weeks back (photos to follow one day), and they sold a sort of map folder that I thought was very nice. Not sure if the other parks do this and I hadn't noticed?

I collect the maps but I don't display them. I do however own an older large poster map of Disneyland (kind of a vintage looking one) that I want to frame.

Yeah I'm also keen to get some older maps to frame.

My parents have a cool display, which is a framed map of the full WDW resort from around 2002 maybe. And then a pin for each park and hotel over that place on the map.

They also have a magic kingdom one with a pin for each land.

Does anyone else collect pins? I started a couple of years back, and normally grab a couple of pins from each park, and try to aim for park unique attractions. They have very very few pins in Tokyo. I think I saw maybe 30 different designs total, and none of them said 'Tokyo Disneyland' and were mostly generic character pins.

Pins is an animal that i'm so very happy that I got out of. I used to collect signage.... which is nice because it's more limited, but i discovered that it was SO limited that all the signage pins I wanted were released only to Disney Imagineering employees, which made it so difficult to hunt down and obtain. Hundreds - thousands of dollars later, I have all these pins and really don't care about them at all. If i could go back in time and tell myself to not do it, I would.

$10 a pin doesn't seem like a huge drop in a bucket but if you think about that here and there, over years... it adds up.

Now, the latest pins I bought were only $5 each so i don't feel bad and they're potentially from a movie I will hopefully love: Tomorrowland

Innoventions in Tomorrowland closed, and the Marvel exhibits with it. Pretty poor timing with Avengers 2 coming out today, but it's to prepare for something new for Disneyland's 60th.

From months back, they had a Cinderella preview at the Bug's Land Theater. Odd spot for it. haha, but i ended up loving the movie anyway. It's back to It's Tough To Be a Bug now.

I'm more of a magnet person myself. Usually pick up one from each city or theme park I go to.
Did buy a Wall E pin at DisneyWorld because that was the only Wall E merchandise they had.

Some amazing lighting on this last set.

DLR's POTC has such an amazing beginning. Honestly, I think I like the first half of the ride more than the second. That quick trip through the bayou, then the caves - the atmosphere is so good.

thanks!

yah, I agree. it just sets the mood.... it really makes you anticipate everything and you appreciate it only when you experience it without.

I went to Disneyland the day before Star Wars Celebration started a few weeks back. Had a blast going with some fellow Freaks. The crowds weren't bad, so we were able to ride everything we wanted (some even twice).

At another Disneyland party, they celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Indiana Jones Adventure. One of the highlights was a panel with moderator Tim O'Day and Imagineering Legend Tony Baxter. They shared stories of the creation of the ride, the problems they faced, rare footage and conceptual art. It was really cool.

I just went through alot of the previous pics! Thanks for sharing. I was at DW last may and have to say there are quite a few differences between the two parks from what I could see. The Simpson in Orlando does not seem quite as big in comparison.

Springfield in Orlando might be bigger in actual space because it has two rides (simulator and the spinner)... and then the food stretches down the path away from krustyland (simpsons ride). All dining room seating area is on the first floor and it's much more open.

They don't have that luxury in Hollywood as half of the theme park is built on a side of a hill (above the actual studios). The seating area for the Krusty Burger and Cletus' Chicken Shack are combined upstairs of those dining locations, making Springfield look bigger because it's higher. There's a few bonus Springfield buildings as well because they're trying to block sight-lines to Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Hogsmeade directly behind them.

Springfield in Hollywood does not have the Kang n Kodos spinner ride, but they did get a Despicable Me Super Silly Fun Land where the spinner was placed instead.

Either way, it's kind of fun to have different experiences in the parks. Makes it unique when visiting one or the other. You'll see more Simpsons gags in the Hollywood version but Orlando has a more accurate Moe's Tavern which I prefer. And I rather have Kang n Kodos Twirl and Hurl over a Despicable Me spinner but really minor preference.
