Why do they look like little kids?

Because aside from Wolverine and Banshee, they are young during that time period. Cyclops, Storm and Phoenix are early to mid 20 something during the Phoenix/DP Saga. Right before the Dark Phoenix Saga Nightcrawler celebrates his 21st birthday in an X-Men Annual. After Phoenix's death, Colossus states he is 19 after he breaks up with Kitty. All written by Claremont. Artists draw them older looking. Nightcrawler has never looked under 21, but Claremont said he was.

Marvel Sr VP of Publishing says as of 2010 Cyclops is 27, the same as Spider-Man, which makes sense since they debuted as teen heroes at about the same age.

At least we agree on the line up, but I like mixed media. Plus Classic Storm and Wolverine PFs already use cloth.
