Re: The Passion of the Christ sequel

Apocalypto demonstrated to me just how good a director Gibson really is. Too bad his personal issues derailed his filmmaking career for the most part.

Given his view toward Jews, this proposed sequel may have a tough time getting off the ground, even though it's a money tree just waiting to be planted.

I found it very hard to watch. If not for the religious significance it would be known as the worst torture porn ever released.
It can't be both?

Spot on. I'd say I'm religious, but I found it to be a strong film. I have had family either bail early or cry because of it. I see no wrong in that, personally. Im not a fan of torture, but I can stomach it; however, I still feel bad for the subject whether deserving or not.

Same here.

I'll certainly be watching this. I think it's not so much as a cash in, considering quite a few Christian films have been pretty solid, "Risen" being one of my most recent viewings, which I enjoyed.

I need to check out the DVD on Risen. :D

I think Apocalypto is the best movie from last decade.

Re: The Passion of the Christ sequel

I've always wanted to right a screen play called "Jesus Christ The First Zombie", I guess Mel Gibson beat me to it.

What is the point of a sequel

I haven't seen it either. I don't know if I want to.

It is brutal. I didn't see in theaters but it doesn't surprise me to hear stories of people crying when they saw the movie.

I might have to check that out myself. Watching a good faith based movie is like an getting an oil change for my soul.

To rise. His death was only one part of the equation. His resurrection is what the Christian faith is based on.

Re: The Passion of the Christ sequel

Maybe there's a version of the movie that's not torture porn??

I'd heard it's a good movie, and I'd like to watch it, but I worry I'd lose my lunch. I am not into those gory films. I watched Requiem for a Dream, and I will never do that again. That scene with the guy when his arm gets infected. . . yeesh, that was bad enough for me.

Re: The Passion of the Christ sequel

I'm waiting to see the movie "Risen", basically takes place after "The Passion"

Re: The Passion of the Christ sequel

You gotta believe it though. It's like in Fright Night, you have to have faith or that cross don't mean a thing.

Re: The Passion of the Christ sequel

well jesus was real, historically i mean, he was real

Absolutely, but faith comes into play regarding the prophecy of the messiah, his conception, the miracles Jesus performed, and the resurrection.

Don't ever watch the genitalia torture scene in Antichrist then. :lol

I've seen Requiem for a Dream and that scene is tame when compared to the Passion. Just the scene where he is whipped and the Romans used the cat of 9 tails is brutal. However, all of the torture does have a purpose. Gibson did a great job of trying to put into context just how much Jesus suffered before he died. For this reason I think the torture scenes pack a powerful punch but the Passion of the Christ is certainly not for everyone.

Re: The Passion of the Christ sequel

I'm not religious, saw it in the theater, and was pretty much mute by the time it was over. I own the blu-ray, but I haven't watched it since the first time.

Excellent story, well told.

Re: The Passion of the Christ sequel

Hmm, I didn't realise The Passion is actually considered a legitimately good film on its own merits. I haven't seen it, or Apocalypto for that matter.
