This forum just likes to think it is the center of the universe isn?t it?

I agree with all your points.
As much as I was craving something unique and different from what was served to us with TLJ, just can't help but think "...meh.."..

Really wanted to like it, i just cant, the writing is for simpletons, the score is weird, the acting has got really bad, and the cockpit scenes reminds me of red dwarf, so cheap.
I'ts frustrating how so little happens in each episode. The plot moves at a glacial pace and its making me want to wait until the season is over so I can just binge it.
i just don't know how to feel about this series tbh. The casting makes me think this is a college project, i think it needs to take a lesson from Babylon 5, and tell the story in arcs instead of trying to cram everything into each episode.
It feels like porn - Periodically shows and reminds you of something you love, looks good, exciting, but it is empty of ANY meaningful content. Sometimes you want to watch it again and sometimes you think "why am i watching this?!?"
I hope it gets out of this cycle of going to a new planet and having an adventure then running to a new one, 'rinse and repeat'.

seems like I'm done done getting drunk off the fan service and now I'm feeling the hangover.

This is NOT the way.

Still fun to be had, but I do think this was the weakest episode. As previously discussed more time is needed to give the random characters some depth. And as cool as it was to see the Cantina again it felt kinda like the glory days were over. Like the interesting personalities had left town and we were left with a wannabe bounty hunter who breezed into town a day late and a dollar short, like Deadwood South Dakota fifteen years after the gold rush ended. Not necessarily unrealistic, but not the best for a TV show. Also the beginning Top Gun dogfight was pretty cheesy. I have heard this episode compared to a fetch quest in a video game and I would agree with that assessment.

The important take away for me is that it is fun and entertaining which it remains in spade.

The swoop bike stuff was fun.

There was very dark and callous undertones to the outer fun layer though.

Grandma is babysitting one second and next she is hiding a dead body by ordering kid friendly comedic droids to dump into a freaking hole somewhere in the desert.

Yes I was definitely still entertained. I would be much more forgiving if there were 13-20 episodes instead of 8.

I thought this version of Mos Eisley was great. With no Empire to flee from and no Jabba to work for why *would* it continue to be a bustling spaceport? The washed up has-been feel to the town felt correct to me, I don't think I would have wanted to see a packed house with a lively band all over again as if nothing had ever changed.

I'm actually getting a kick out of all the crappy supporting actors, but again, I had my teeth cut not just on the OT but the infamous Holiday Special so these actors provide a familiar chintzy charm that isn't totally out of place for me. It is jarring to go from Nolte, Weathers, and Herzog to these newer characters though so I'm not surprised that some people are getting turned off by them.

I liked the parallel with Toro and the Schofield Kid from Unforgiven though I do wish that they cast Toro with a better actor.

I also enjoyed the cheesy intro, once again it felt like a big budget video game and totally reminded me of the intro to 1993's PC game "Privateer" lol:

Though again I won't be at all surprised if many people hold that *against* the show, lol.

Imagine if the surprise reveal came a little earlier when Mando was about to leave to get the Dewback.

"She's no good to us dead."

*A blaster goes off and burns a hole straight through the kid*

(from the shadows): "That's my line."

:D

Yeah I don?t mind the contained bounty hunting stories per episode BUT by the next episode they need to step back and show a larger narrative at play.

But i?m loving the late 70s to early 80s cheese lol

Another overlooked aspect that is being taken for granted is the seamless interaction with an onset animatronic and cgi baby yoda.

Not easy to pull off.

Don't see it that way, but am totally into it:love. Favreau said more or less that he's imitating the old serials - short episodes, Western/samuari theme, wandering nameless gunslinger e.g. sphaghetti westerns. Clint Eastwood wanders into town and very bad things happen to bad people and he wanders into the sunset.

The twist here being - at the moment anyway - the Mandalore is also protecting a child, which is practically Biblical and he has a code/religion.

Far as I know we're actually getting more details than the spaghetti westerns tho haven't watched every old movie. I liked the cockpit scene 'coz it was cool that he had some sort of backup power, e.g. more small *realistic* details I appreciate:clap. It'd make sense to have backup for what he does.

For me luv the aesthetics; even the budgets for Infinity War and End Game didn't stop those long CGI shots that kinda look fuzzy and never do anything for me (tho the Russos seemed to be into those). The film SW look amazing but doesn't stop folks from having *issues*

I think there is an arc here - the child and the fate of Mandalorian and baby. Blended with the lone wanderer warrior rogue who is not a *&^%. There's a lot to unpack with baby Yoda's back story and am happy to be along for the ride as long as the series lasts.

Yeah I don?t mind the contained bounty hunting stories per episode BUT by the next episode they need to step back and show a larger narrative at play.

See, I think this is where the format throws folks, 'coz we're more used to that. Far as I know tho Clint or whoever - Kurt Russell LOL - just leaves town and then there's another movie....:monkey3

And it's kind of hilarious that the new bartender hated droids just as much as the last one. :lol

Mando might have really bonded with Jabba's old torture droid, lol.

I’m perfectly content with the narrow focus of the series. We’ve seen the horror Ducasfilm unleashes when it goes grand-scale and I’m ****ing terrified this is going to end in some desperate crossover with wounded Palpatine eating Force babies.

In this day and age where men are meant to be emasculated by smarter females I was in shock that Toro didn?t fall for the smarter and more cunning asian female.

At first I didn?t like the actor but by the end he really became quite scary albeit way over his head.

He reminded of an evil James Franco.

Holy crap I wonder if they're setting Fett up as being disgraced by his defeat at the Sarlacc Pit but that he was eavesdropping on the female assassin's speech about how catching Mando would make someone a bounty hunter legend again. :panic:

And I imagine that the Watiti and Favreau directed episodes coming up will be more in line with the quality of episodes 1-3.

Good points IMO. Also I thought the widow AND the kid were very good along with the mechanic in #5. It's not worth shelling out for Herzog level quality for actors we probably won't see again. Toro was good at the last tho - pretty chilling.

Yeah I have no problem with this show being a simple tour guide through the galaxy, locations both new and old, if they decide to continue down that path.

Very true and you're right he kind of did. Also a bit of a young Vince Vega vibe too. I did actually get a little concerned that the show was starting to show it's colors with *another* super badass female and a dopey incompetent male so soon after the widow and Cara Dune but nope, expectations subverted in a good way, lol.

Yep.:monkey2:monkey2:monkey2

Just the shots of the stormtrooper heads on stakes makes me *warm and fuzzy*, but now Disney has taken notice $$$$$ and the day will come when some joker think it's fun to have mouse ear head on a stake or some *&^%.:banghead

Disney should remember the fate of the DC universe when execs start butting in.

Toro is Jake Cannavale, son of Bobby Cannavale, and Sidney Lumet's grandson. Mystery solved on how mediocrity gets in.

Not Fett. The cape is too long, boots are different.
My guess is Moff Gideon. About time to show G. Esposito.
