Finally! What a relief that us console gamers are getting what we have been asking for! I really hope this gives capcom a kick in the arse (also the last of us) to get back to being the best at what they can be. The future looks bright for us horror fans!!:yess:

That ign article was a good read. Back in the early ps1 and ps2 era days there were alot of horror games and some most people probaly don't remember like clock tower. The creator wants to bring that all back finally and show us what horror can be like on the next gen. IMHO dead space was the only horror game that came close this gen to sticking to what horror games are. Tension and fear. I can't wait til this game schools capcom on how a game should be presented as horror.
I'm also hoping that the last of us will create a bigger buzz for this game being as that game is somewhat horror and if it does well it will make people want more. Re6 was terrible and this, last of us and re revelations will show them how it's done.

I agree. Although there was Condemned which was out when the current gen systems first came out.

I hear ya, that's what I hated about Dead Space, I could nearly always tell when I was going to be attacked, even in the 1st playthrough, it was discouraging, it wasn't fun anymore.

Yeah, you could usually tell in that game when they had supplies lining the room, or explosive banisters littered throughout.

Another thing I don't like is when you're being attacked, they start playing dramatic music, and then stop the music when everything is dead...don't do that... Either play no music, or keep the music going...Stopping the music or changing it just tells me it's safe and there's no more enemies around. It ruins that fear, that uncertainty of "oh god did I get them all...is it safe?"

Good observation, I remember in Stalker, the ambient music was always haunting and tense, and if you were about to be attacked, the music didn't change UNTIL you were actually under attack, and it stopped shortly after you were sure everything was clear, it never hinted you on where or when you were going to be attacked, it was perfect.

The Evil Within / Psycho Break

So I thought it was a good idea to make a thread of this game, The Evil Within is an upcoming survival horror game developed by Tango Gameworks, and led by director Shinji Mikami, known for creating the Resident Evil series back in his days at Capcom

Story:
While investigating the scene of a gruesome mass murder, Detective Sebastian Castellanos and his partners encounter a mysterious and powerful force. After seeing the slaughter of fellow officers, Sebastian is ambushed and knocked unconscious. When he awakens, he finds himself in a deranged world where hideous creatures wander among the dead.
Facing unimaginable terror, and fighting for survival, Sebastian embarks on a frightening journey to unravel what’s behind this evil force.

There is more info of this game out there and a few videos

Shinji Mikami thinks there are no real horror games out there anymore, the balance between action and horror was lost and so he wants to bring back the real survival horror.

Our goal is to bring a bodily sensation to the players through the controllers, says Mikami. For example, a nervous feeling that will make you panic, or say ‘Please, somehow just die…’ as you do your best and try to shoot them down.
