How many are really going to buy a 4K player? Many people are still buying DVD and know almost nothing and have no desire to buy bluray. I know 4K looks great, but where's the consumer demand for it. I have a feeling this might go the way of the Betamax, laser disc, and HD players.

Disney chose Bluray and decided the winner.

If the studios choose 4k (and I do mean beyond just Sony studios), they will come and then the sets will be everywhere making the ULTRA HD a thing.

What they will hide is the fact that not everything can be rescanned at 4k or reap 4k results.

I will be all over 4k content like Bryan Singer on teen boys.

Then again every once in awhile I feel like watching 70s-80s movies on crappy VHS just to get that special 70s-80s feeling.

Sooooooo glad I ditched 90% of my VHS tapes (the others have yet to be released on DVD, let alone BR). I couldn't do that without being perched on the edge of the couch in a panic, waiting for that notorious "crinkle" noise of the VHS player eating the tape.

Yeah I'd say you need a big screen too,but honestly theres not that much 4K content right now
I think I will upgrade to 4K in 1 or 2 years when HDMI 2.0 is Standard and TV is broadcast in 4K
Its great for digital art though at the moment and gaming if you've got the GPU for it

Like most tech improvements, the most obvious advantage probably won't be the most important. Yea, 4k means higher resolution, but the immediate question that gets asked is can you actually see it. But there are other advantages, including getting true HD quality for 3D, as well as being able to do some amazing stuff with slo-mo and other effects. It'll be a couple years out, but I might be looking for a new projector by that time...
