well considering we won't see him after about 5 (SE,SS,CC,Duke) It'll be 2009! :monkey2:monkey1

But that's ok... as long as they are worth the wait!!!! I have a bad feeling about this line...

If you think this is true then you need to check out ebay auctions for AFA graded vintage Joes.

No offense, but comparing vintage to modern is silly. Much like vintage Star Wars, it's valuable due to it's direct connection to our childhood and the fact that toys weren't collectibles back then ... i.e. they weren't hoarded away like we all do now. True, hardcore Vintage collectors may pour money into their Vintage collection, but I just don't see those same people pouring that kind of money into modern Joes of this price. I hope I am wrong.

You were the one who said "GI Joe fans are used to 6 to 25 dollar figures." The vintage market proves that Joe fans are able to spend money, and even pay more on average per figure than SW collectors do for their respective vintage counterparts. Also remember that domestic SW figures were no more than $6 to $25 until SS's 1/6 scale figures came along.

Oh Douglas...if you want to see something Joe and modern AND over $25...look on eBay for the prices for the Gold-Headed 25th Anniversary "Pimp Daddy" Destro figure...

I can't believe another ++++ing newsletter goes by with no mention of a Joe. In order for them to stick to the first offering out by Q3 it'll have to a proto pic up in ordering to make it stand.....

This has been one heck of a rollercoaster week for Joe fans.

We went from this:

Thank you SS for reminding us of how cool this property can be! :clap :D

Seriously. I feel like this is vindication after the vomitous car wreck of a live-action film in the making. It was really looking like GI Joe was going to have an even bigger black mark on it than even Cobra-La or the Eco Warriors could ever manage, and in a sense it still will, but with SS developing figures and possibly PF's of classic Joes I'm happy to say that it'll no longer matter.

Its kind of like how He-Man got that lame anime revamp in 2002 but Mattel still released commemorative edition figures of the *good* designs and then BCI followed up with awesome DVD releases of the original cartoon.

The Steve Sommers Joe movie can just be anime He-Man while we all get to enjoy what I imagine to be the ultimate "commemorative" releases in the form of SS's new line.

And since, unlike SW or LOTR, the GI Joe characters are not based on real actor likenesses but rather card and cartoon art there shouldn't be near the scrutiny or dissatisfaction with the head sculpts. In that sense I see it being closer to Marvel, which without the restriction of human reference material has had home run after home run under SS's expertise.

What an exciting time to be a Joe fan. Bring 'em on SS! :flag :rock

Agreed with everything except the MotU anime bit. Since, you know, it was one of the best cartoons this decade...

And seriously, how hard was it to make Snake Eyes look like that? True to original, yet looking like he belongs in an actual military unit, just like how the others will. Why the sci-fi crap?:monkey2
