Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

It's the difference between buying a Mercedes and a Hyundai. Here is a pic.
batmanwestheadsupsbodymattel011.jpg

I'm in the market for a Hyundai. If anyone here is trying to unload a nude Superman please let me know. I see possibilities with this figure.

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

The only reason I posted that pic was because Im sure somebody had requested to see a pic of the nude body,I cant help it if it looks bad,it is bad,as for what I think of the body I personally think its crap, thats just my opinion,am I not allowed to express my opinion? Is this not a discussion forum? For those of you who love it then great for you but to me the only purpose that figure serves is to swap out thebody and add a fenix head sculpt both for a few bucks and you have the ultimate Reeve figure, just look at Rebels finished figure, even HT will have a hard time topping that,.The mattel figure is not worthy of even polishing his shoes.I rest my case.

Yes of course it's a discussion forum and you're perfectly entitled to express your opinion. You don't like the Mattel figure and I think everybody realises that by now.
For the benefit of those who haven't actually seen it in the flesh I'm merely pointing out that you've posted a photo of it in a deliberately distorted position in a vain attempt to justify your strangely hostile opinion of it. And to claim those eBay photos support you is frankly a bit sad.
But carry on. You have your own reasons for this although who knows what they are.

really? I posed him like that deliberately? that's how much you know, that's the same photo I used in my ebay auction so why would I deliberately pose him bad in an ebay auction?? that would really make for a good representation to the buyers, give me a break! That's how he was and that's how I posted him on ebay, there was no intent to deliberately distort the position,my putting it on ebay just like that proves that.Like its really that important to me that I'm gona pose him badly on purpose,to gain what?I'm not sure which superman movies your watching but in the one I have Reeve is far from being diesel. That body is best used for a comic book version superman like DC DIRECT,.It doesn't look that bad with the suit on but it does with it off. That's my main issue here, they made a diesel looking Reeve figure but who cares,I'm glad they did make it because the suit is great for customizing.Maybe my body was defected but who's to blame for that? Mattel. I only posted what had and did the same in my ebay auction. The body that came out of my box was bad as you can see so I reviewed it as just that now lets dead it already!geeze! I'm getting ridiculed over a body and that's how I received it.

I'm not trying to start to agrue with you, but I don't think it's just the body that might be starting flares with ppl and how you're responding to this figure.

I think it's the fact that you're bashing this figure in a thread where ppl like this figure for what it is. You're comparing it to a HT figure and body. obviously there are going to be different quality as you said, you pay for quality. but it's like compare apples with oranges. a $60 figure to an aprox $150 there are going to be OBVIOUS differences in quality.

this figure is not a piece of crap and an abomination which you make it out to be like when you say "I'll never display something like this"

this thread is full of ppl who bought it and like it yet you come in here bashing the heck out of it and CONSTANTLY say it's only good for it's suit, yet you bought 4 of them. as much as you're making it seem like you hate this figure except for the suit, what's the thinking behind buying 4? scalping them on eBay to make a $60+ profit or something like that? or buying them just to sit and complain and say "huh, I can't believe I spent $60 in this piece of garbage that I will never display"

it's your opinion and that's fine but I think by now we all get that you don't entirely like this figure.

so to avoid any further arguments, I think it would be nice, courteous and generous of you to stop saying that it's crap and only good for the suit, and just let ppl here enjoy it.

:peace

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

ok you make a valid point and I apologize if I got out of control with the cements,,i never expected it to get that far out of hand, maybe I was being a bit harsh when I said I wouldn't display it,truth is I did have it displayed for a day and you looked pretty straight wit hthe suit on but later decided to just use the suit with another body and head.I did sell one before the figure was even up for sale so I didn't have it in my hand yet,I first ordered 2 of them when I got them I thought it was just ok but I really liked the suit mostly and saw great ideas for it so I ordered 2 more,I decided to sell one at a very tiny profit but I still have one left new in the box,I might sell it also or then again I might just keep it in the box and save it,the box is very nice looking,I guess the one I opened must have been defected so I was making my argument on that,I didn't intentionally take the pic that way or I would be a fool to use that pic in my ebay sale.I don't like being accused of doing something vein on purpose,my selling it that same way proves that, that's all i have to say.I wont say anymore about the figure. No harm meant fellas.

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

Rebelpig's Chris Reeve Supes is amazing.

As for mine, I decided to paint the neck to better match the head.

I totally agree. The other bodies are close, but a tad too muscular. The only thing I don't like is the chest and abs are a little too low. Otherwise perfect. It would be nice to have the neck molded on the body, but then you lose flying poses.

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

Here is a slight upgrade to my previous figure I posted on pg.57 with the Les Walker sculpt I had,I removed the entire neck to fit the triad neck post, also this was my second attemt to ever use a dremel tool and I think I did a pretty good job at it,I think it's a definite improvement to how it looked before but ofcorse this is only a temp until I get my Eric Sosa head finished with Moe's suit. Here are some before and after pics.

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

Anyone see this yet?

New superman suit

hi im pretty sure its left over suits from that george reeves figure from a while back ,the guy has one in his see other items list ,its ok for what it is ,the boots are reworked superman returns boots with most of the detail removed ,its half the price of moes but not even close to being half as good IMHO cheers chris

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

im sure the cape is sewn in to the shoulders and has wire in the sides ,its ok but for the money ,i think most of us would be pretty dissapointed if it was supermans suit ,but for the president as a parody it might work i think reegan would fill it out better ala the pop video of the 80s ,ball of confusion by phil collins i think it was ,anyway you guys decide its your president and your country :):) cheers chris

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

i'm loving everyone's customs, but....

one thing i'm noticing wrong with everyone's customs is the cape placement.

the actual cape went down the front of reeves chest, ties went under the armpits and was tied in the back.

it really improves the look of the figure.

Thats what bothers me too. When I took a short cut and poached the Mattel suit for my custom, it was the only thing I've been uncomfortable with.

I actually have 3 prototype suits, that I've been working on for a while now, way before Mattel or Hot toys went near Supes again. The reason I never completed them was the cape. To do 'that' cape in 1/6 correctly with the ties that go under the arm (without them showing) , is really difficult. It also has sort of a 'collar' that tucks under the suit around the neck. It' actually a lot more complex than it looks.
The cut of the cape and the pleats are very specific too, there were several different styles of cape, for flying, walking etc. All of them were cut differently.
When I get time I plan to go back and 'finish' my cape. Much more acurately.
