Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Old Man Solo would be a grizzled tough bird. I don't care what the EU says. He may love Leia, but they wouldn't last. He'd be out there getting in trouble, not sittting court with a honorary queen/politician.

So what you're saying, what actually happens in the eu is more or less what you think Han should be doing.

Han is a tough as nails old bird. Flying around the galaxy, generally being himself. Cherie dies, he becomes a drunken, cantankerous old bastard, and quasi self destructive for a while.
Leia eventually fills the hole in Hans life left by dead chewie, and both of them end up traipsing across the galaxy together as outlaws, doing what they feel is right, and **** all for the law. They have three children.
One dies a hero. One dies a villian, but dies a villian to save the galaxy.
Their daughter lives.

Add in their adopted daughter/ actual granddaughter on occasion, and you get what happens to Han.

They last, becuase being retired and not in the thick of things never sat while with EITHER of them.

Lando marries a rich woman for her money, buys kessle, ends up falling in love with her in the long run. They run the spice industry, as well as sell droids, and own a casino or two.

Luke skywalker restores the Jedi order. Becomes billy baddass, and continues saving the universe time and again as the chosen one his father could never live up to being. He falls in love, marries, and has a son. His wife is murdered by a sith lord.

Yes, it took darth bane's sith 1000 years to launch their plan. Bane was not the only sith. There are holocrons, forgotten sith schools, and loads of terrible out there to build off of.

Those are just summaries of what happens. If you believe the Han and Leia retire to naboo... I suggest you don't believe everything haters tell you.

Yes, there is some stupid eu out there.... There is a lot of stupid eu out there. But some of it, most of what I posted above is very very good, and very well written

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Yeah, but I like Lapti Nek. I have it on my Ipod along with Yub Nub song.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

All that said.... Episode Vii should have the final days of Luke skywalker, much as episode iv. Was the final days of Ben kenobi.

I really, really like the idea of Luke passing the torch like Ben did to him.

This allows for them to include the eu, without having to do much more than reference it. Luke's dead wife, his son the Jedi, yadda, yadda.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

The song is fine. But there's more going on with the scene. Music is fine in the SW universe. But don't make it into a singing scene. Ya know?

Yeah, I know, but Disney isn't going to have people busting into musical numbers like the animated movies as the guy suggested. I actually like those old musical animated films, personally, but they're not going to do that with Star Wars.

Disney knows how to please adults and children with their movies and I think there's a pretty good chance that this will be a big hit with all age groups.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Uh. Yeah, aside from two movies, they don't do musicals these days. They rarely throw any kind of musical numbers in any of their recent films.

Tron, Pirates, Pixar flicks, National Treasure...

The Avengers.

I mean, we went through this Disney thing before with Marvel...I don't get why people are still having fears about this.

:lol

As a heap of people have said already, these are still going to be STAR WARS movies not DISNEY movies. Lucasfilm now headed by Kathleen Kennedy will have the main creative input into the films. Just as Pixar has the creative input into the Pixar films and Marvel into the Marvel films.

The new films will most likely benefit from the resourses Disney has at its disposal, it wont be shoe horning any agenda or genre into the films other then whats already been established by Lucasfilm.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Being a Disney movie doesn't mean anything now either.

I mean, Gravity Falls has drug references, and sexual innuendo.

Pirates has a joke about having no *****, and having sex with whores.

So....you know.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I was thinking about that also yesterday.. what I really expecting and hoping for ...

1. show us the traditional troopers.. Stormtroopers, tie figher pilots...Snow...whatever.. but please dont come up with another trooper design.. there are already like 23145 troopers..

2. please please let us see our Tie Fighters.. x-wings... star destroyer.... PLEASE !!

if they just do that.. the SW feeling will be there for sure and the road to success is half way done !

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

^ That scene near the end of ROTS felt like Star Wars.

Still sucked. I'll take something new entirely as long as the story and characters are good.

That scene was made by the link of familiarity. It ws cool to tie the series together with Young vader, the Emperor, and a young buff Tarkin all on the bridge together.

I wouldn't mind a similar tie in to the new movies, but I don't want to dwell on the old characters, I have the OT for that.

:goodpost::exactly:

Glad to see there are actual fans of the EU besides me. I mentioned before, I read a lot of the EU before the prequels came out and continued as the prequels were being released. I stopped with the oversaturation of Star Wars in culture. Before the prequels, it was huge, don't get me wrong. But not every kid knew about it and talked about it and geeked out about it. That made it annoying to me.

I agree setting this AFTER the NJO and having Luke pass the torch to a new hero would truly give us a new tale for movie fans and EU fans. Enough time has passed to set it between NJO and Legacy and fill in the gaps. Legacy takes so far ahead in the future they won't be constrained in linking this trilogy to those events either.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

But i wasn't scared for Episode 123 and look what happened!

:panic:

as much as many fans dont wanna hear it.. but GEORGE LUCAS happened !! this wont happen anymore !!! :)

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Most people weren't scared for Episode 1, lots of people weren't scared for Episode 2, it really wasn't until the crap that is Episode 3 where the hatred began.

Let's wait and see what happens.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

dont be scared.. fear leads to the dark side ...

:rolleyes2 Gawd don't remind me of all the crap Yoda was spouting in those films. Its no wonder Anakin turned with all that bull being poured in his ear.
