Are you serious?

Movies don't just go up to 1080p, that is just the best resolution available for home viewing.

Modern digital motion picture cameras are 4k,which means 4 thousand lines of resolution
(4x 1080p) and film, which most movies are shot on, does not have a definable resolution, but trust me, films clarity is far superior to 1080p.

Edit -looked it up, films resolution is actually listed as being 6k, meaning 6,000 lines of resolution. Even the 4k cameras are often upscaled to 8,000 lines of res during the special effects process. So trust me, tv has a very long way to go to match anything in the cinema, as a matter of fact, if you watched something with only 1080 lines of res on a movie screen, it would look horrible.

Actually no, many times they drop it down to 1080p because it's cheaper to work with. Especially when they first started computer FX it's very expensive to work with a higher resolution. They've done that type thing even as recently as Avatar. Even when they were working with IMAX for The Dark Knight, they did the FX in those parts at a lower resolution and then upscaled it later.

Very few movies would benefit from higher than 1080p. Upscaling doesn't count.

Never say never. Lucas has to die someday and the person that takes over will restore sense to that company

Lucas's changes to the original trilogy border on criminal, IMO. Changing Fett's voice is just unacceptable. I am not buying these movies

Unfortunately when YOU die off the internet will still be filled with trolls who are spiteful because you cannot control an intellectual property in which you had absolutely no hand in creating. THAT borders on socialism...IMHO of course!!!

Um ya know you can still buy the originals on DVD. Non anamorphic but still the originals.

However it is bull that lucas won't put out good qiality orginals.

Ya know whats funny? I think of all the changes Lucas has made, its the changes to Fett's voices that I hate the most. Sure I hate Greedo shooting first as much as the next guy but screwing with Fett's voice really gets to me. I am not even that huge a fett fan.

Yup, I don't watch the new versions. They ruined Fett with the lame new voice.

After reading the true story of Star Wars book the more I think those versions are somehow tied to his ex wife and if they are ever released again in their true "original" format she cleans up (somehow he got around it for the DVD's by calling them "extras") so I believe thats partly why they will never be seen again.

You are correct. Rumor is she gets half of the sales if he releases those versions again. But...why not include them as extras like like last time but in 1080p this time around....I wish!

As if GL doesn't make enough $$$$ hand-over-fist. He's gotta hold off release of the original versions - and deny long-time fans; just so he can stick it to his ex-wife? Petty.

Honestly, I could really care less at this point for the movies themselves. I've seen them about a hundred times each, and feel like I know every shot, every line.

With each tweak that Lucas adds to the Original Trilogy, he alienates me more and more.

That said, what I'm DEFINITELY excited for is the bonus materials, in particular the deleted scenes. Jeremy Bulloch has repeatedly said that interior shots of him (as Boba Fett) in the Slave I interior were filmed, and I'm hoping new footage of that kind of thing is included. Plus I'm looking forward to anything that was filmed and was cut for pacing reasons, relevancy, etc. I'm sure that Lucas has not emptied the archives into this set (to pave the way for yet another anthology at some point in the future), but I'm pretty hyped for these.

*EDIT: I'm refering ONLY to the Original Trilogy throughout. Just to be clear.

I consider myself a pretty old school Star Wars fan. I was probably five when I saw the original film in the theater. I didn't see it right when it came out but it was still during the 1970's when I did. It probably sounds odd but I don't really have a problem with most of the changes. I like what they did with Cloud City. What is funny is I was probably 7 when I saw Empire and back then I wanted to see more of Cloud City. I liked that they changed the Emperor and Fett's voice change doesn't bother me. Its not like he said that much anyway. My only beef is Greedo shooting first. It just looks awkward. Its not enough however to make we want to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Same here. Except the only changes that really bother me are Jabba in epIV and the dumb Jedi Rocks musical number in epVI. Other than that I like what I see.

Great link -- interesting stuff there. I totally get a filmmaker wanting to tweak their work years after the fact, but I really don't mind a 1977 film looking like it was filmed... in 1977.

I wouldn't want Francis Ford Coppola to "tweak" The Godfather, either.

i watch them both, and i think some changes really beefed up the quality.and bye the way, they gave "the godfather" a new dubbing in germany, totally different from it original release ,just to make it 5.1 sound.terrible!!:gah:,same to"the money pit" with tom hanks, awful, cant watch it anymore:gah::gah::slap

No he'll live forever. He'll be alive and in perfect hibernation.

Did you guys watch GL's new version of "THX-1138"? Some of the new scenes were neat, but most were unnecessary and a few just aweful. And again - I wouldn't mind except that it's almost impossible to find the original version. And definitely not on blu-ray.

I actually liked a lot of the changes made to THX. The only thing I didn't like was the CGI scorpion. It looked really bad to me.

You do realize that "person" you're talking about taking over is the same person who chose the box art for the sextet release, right?

I just watched EP3 yesterday for the first time in a while and I never realised how BAD it is. The story, acting, pace, retarded humour; i was disturbed by the time I got to the end because I remember it being the strongest of the prequels.

So I'm going to watch EP1 & 2 again this weekend and hope they are better than this :(
