Nobody is trying to change your opinion. But you stated why you don't like it, so if that's all you have to add, why keep at it? The statue is already made, they won't be changing it, buy it, don't, get one to take to a bra burning rally, nobody really gives a ****. It's a feature that was there on the proto, this should not surprise anyone and should have ceased to be a topic long ago. The only aspect that would have been newsworthy would have been if they changed it.

I don't care for nude statues. Just not my thing. But I'm not in the Medusa thread throwing a fit over her ta tas showing, cause guess what, that's what was advertised. This faux outrage is trolling at this point.

Faux outrage??? It would seem the nipple loving crowd is the one yelling and showing outrage the most that anyone dare have an opinion otherwise. Anyone I have seen posting they don't like the nipples showing has done so respectfully while the other side has called them immature, told them to get over it, and move along your opinion isn't needed, or wanted, etc. Hell exodus is blowing a gasket over it.

Well, there's opinion and there's objective esthetic analysis.

Yes, I can see that. I was reading Harley comix back when the Dodsons were drawing her. She was beautiful, sexy and we did not ever see one nipple anywheres. I think what people are NOT getting here is the the argument is not, NIPPLES ARE EVIL AND MUST BE DESTROYED!!!!!!11111eleventy-one111!

No, the argument is that they're an artistically unessential detail, which is wrong. The statue is a perfect representation of the character as she was originally conceived by her creator in the early 90's, pre-dating the Dodson's work by almost a decade. She's an integrated balance of woman and cartoon, which is the essence of her personality and history. Similarly to the exaggeration of proportion employed in the Joker and Ivy statues, she is a living caricature of a unique species of vice (in her case, a sexually rooted obsession with the epitome of homicidal psychopathy).

She was conceived for a cartoon and definitely did not have nipples showing on it. Because of her popularity in the cartoon she was later added to the comics, again without nipples. Any sexualization of her in the comics happened later, well after she was "conceived"

Referencing a children's medium as a standard for adult collectibles is kind of a stretch.

I have no idea what this means? Are you disputing the fact that the Harley was originally created to be a character on Batman the Animated Series cartoon, or discounting it because it doesn't fit your narrative?

I'm saying that a character who has a history well beyond the medium in which she debuted---a history that defined the character to the adult comic fans and collectors who made her a commodity---should not have her identity limited to the perspective of an audience below the age of consent when being marketed to buyers well beyond that age.

Do you know what that means?

Yes, I get what you mean, however your original argument was that she was originally "conceived" this way, which is absolutely false. Sure, she has been sexualized in various comic and artistic representations over the years, but was not originally created that way, nor was that the norm for the character. So yeah a statue can be marketed in a way that appeals to older (what you call mature) collectors, but let's cut out the sanctimonious BS about it being originally created that way, since that is a flat out lie, and honestly a rarity to how the character was depicted most of the time in any format.

This is why I'm stepping out. I've said ad nauseam why I don't like the nipples being shown on this particular Harley. The opposing viewpoint is more than welcome, and just as valid, but the bickering and attacks are worthless and a waste of my precious time.

Only thing I hate are the nipples. Hope mine arrives in good shape.

Had no idea this thread would fall to bits 17 pages ago with such an innocuous comment.

*sigh* Classic overreaction to my post. Any demurral from your opinion, no matter how slight or politely stated, is "ridiculous." O-kay.

I can think of at least ten perfectly natural bodily functions that I really, reeeeaaaallllllllyyyyyy don't wanna see either. Especially sitting on my shelf.

...so my opinion of your opinion is an overreation but your comparison of porn and this statue stands...right

I don't remember this much fuss over Vampirellas nipples. :elefant

Can't wait for my Harley to arrive. Shipped yesterday so should be here next week.
It's going to be AWESOME!!!

don't ask about the Elephant

The nipples certainly weren't necessary, and I can understand why some people don't like them or find them ridiculous. That said, this piece has been up for order for more than a year, nips and all, so it's kind of silly to be having this debate now, when people are coming to the thread because they're excited about the statue's release. We had a year to have this debate; the nip has sailed at this point.

So comments like the one that started this debate, "the only thing I hate is the nipples, I can't wait to get this statue" are invalid? Since when have these threads ever conformed to your standard of only discussing the positive aspects of a statue so as not to ruin the joy of the people who disagree with your point of view? At least the comment and many the share the opinion are coming from people who actually own or purchased it, which is so much better then the constant trashing of statues that these threads endure on a daily basis from people who never had any intention of buying the statue to begin with.
