sadly with all the controversial kinky elements, splice will never get past the censors in my country, so i'll have to catch it on blu-ray.

i loved cube so i'm really looking forward to this.

Good reviews but I have no interest in the concept.

Feels too much like Species to me.

Also the promos are really weird they have the Splice thing naked and exposed on posters. Between bald chicks with tails and 7 ft blue women trying to sell me sexually on a movie, I have to say I'm a little freaked out. Is this the future of porn or something? Whatever happened to good ol fashioned naked women?

I'm watching this tomorrow. I expect it to be quite good, going by the review scores and worth of mouth.

I love the concept, even if it's a bit familiar. Really, the majority of 'new' films released on a weekly basis are concepts that have already been done. It's the small details and characters that really make the difference, and that's why I have no problems watching and enjoying most J.J. Abrams films, to use one example.

Holy ____...
I just saw this today...
it's a great movie... yet highly disturbing and freakish...
Acting is quite solid, and the subject matter though it may seem a bit "out there", I'm quite sure science will eventually get there... scary...:horror

Dren is a freaky character... yet you feel for it...
Honestly the best movie I've seen this year so far!

I'm still processing what I thought about the film. Obviously they were going for something a bit deeper than a film like Species. The themes of parental relationships and bioethics makes it more than your typical horror film. That's probably what attracted Brody and Polley to it. But I'm not sure it worked completely on those levels, and there aren't too many scares.

The movie started out well, but broke apart near the end, which is a shame, because it does raise a lot of ideas that truly are disturbing. The Hollywood monster ending kinda killed it for me though, and some of the characters and their actions seemed illogical and nonsensical, considering how smart they're supposed to be (not to mention hip, what with all those designer toys and artsy posters and stuff they had in their apartment).

It's a failed experiment for me (lol, ugh, sorry), but one that's still worth watching just for a few really good scenes as well as the special effects.
