I just got confirmation of shipment on the Spinosaurus repaint. Should be here Thurs or Fri and I'll be sure to post some pics. I don't have the original to compare against unfortunately.

There seems to be some differing opinions about the 'new' spinosaurus proportions. I don' think those back legs were as short as originally thought, and don't seem to be capable of sprawling out like a quadruped's back legs, and the other similar species of spin like baryonyx or suchomimus are not similarly proportioned.

Well it was painful but after a long weekend I was FINALLY able to open up the new repainted Spinosaurus. Overall I really like the paint pattern, and while I don't have the original release, I think it's an improvement from the prior version. Detail and paint application all look good though I would have liked a little more coloration in the fleshy part of the mouth and in the base. Though with regard to the base I'm a little biased since receiving the Mosasaur which has the best base/stand from this line so far.

Here are a few quick cell phone pictures. Please note I'm not a photographer by any means and had to take these in a hurry before running the kids off to another b-day party.

Looks great! I'm so jealous, I wish I had the money to preorder this thing right now and lock in a spot for me to have one! I'm going to have to decide on the Spino, Mosasaur, or Carnotaurus next... Not easy to pick

Hey could you take one or two pictures of the face in natural light ? .. I am debating if I should cancel my flexpay on this or not. After seeing your pictures, I don't think I will but I would love to get a good look at how the face turned out.

I got mine a couple weeks ago. It's pretty cool, but the colors are a bit muted compared to the product images on Sideshow's website.

TimO did a great job on his, but I don't think I have the skills to make it look anything like that. There's a chance I'd mess it up.

How bad is yours ? ..Is the underside of it pure white without any paint ? Because one picture that I saw didn't look like it had any paint on the bottom of it so it appeared white instead of the tan color that the prototype has.

You can see the black points which start at the end of the jaws and then over the neck to the belly, there was nothing than these points. So i painted it with thin brown color, same with the head, the neck and the area under the sail (most of the body), the legs and a little bit on the arms. Maybe i should seal it with semi gloss clear coat because the painted areas are a little bit to shiny, but at the moment i´m ok with it.
It´s pretty simple, i am not a specialist in doing repaints but i thought it could only look better than before.

But i have to say that there are some better factory painted Spinos out there, mine was pretty worse.

Here you can compare it, this spino is one of the better painted statues, but still way different to the prototype:

Thanks for the help. I will do this if mine comes the same way. I'm not too sure exactly what kind of paint I would use though. What kind did you use ?

The allo vs. cama statue is no longer listed on SS so that's making me anxious to pull the trigger and secure a preorder on the other ones I need. I think I'm going for the Spino next, and then the Apatosaurus. Or maybe the other way around, I'm not sure...

Yeah they probably sold out. They could have at least kept it up so people could join the waitlist though.
