Re: So if SSC got the license for DIFFERENT types of items..

Bring it on! The Premium Formats I would Definately get! And 1/1 props, busts, etc. I am sure would be very different from both what SSW has done AND what others like Rubies, UC, etc. have been doing!

I'm not SO sure about the 12", I'm more a fan of the 1/4 but we'll see!

Re: So if SSC got the license for DIFFERENT types of items..

Personally I would not be into any new items. The Weta connection is a huge draw that got me into collecting these in the first place. It would obviously be missing that with SS going it alone, so to speak. This is a big part in why I have had no interest in prop replicas, toy biz etc as well. I don't buy everything just because it says LOTR on it. As excellent as I'm sure 1/4 scale premium format LOTR figures with cloth etc would be from SS, it would not be for me. I have no doubt they'd sell like hotcakes though.

Right now on the horizon, I'm planning on at least one Weta Kong and Narnia piece, and the 1/4 Sideshow Vader!

Re: So if SSC got the license for DIFFERENT types of items..

PREMIUM FORMATS ALL THE WAY...............WITH FARAMIR & DENETHOR 1ST IN THE LINE..........JUST TO MAKE SURE!!!:lol :lol

I would happily buy SSC LotR merchandise more like their other lines. I just got my Luke -- it is perfect. If WETA does not wish to continue, why should SS not reach out to other artists. The WETA artists did a wonderful job, but as they are through, lets see what others can create.

And in answer to the questions asked:

I'd like to see some of the characters not done by WETA and also most likely would buy "the same characters over again in the different format".

What would I be willing to pay is too difficult to say until I had some idea what would be offered.

Characters: Of course Faramir and Denethor and Treebeard. The 4 Hobbits as in FotR. Eowyn as the White Lady. Rose and Sam. Sam carrying Frodo. There are so many ... I prefer statue to busts -- I like the whole thing. Environments would be nice also.

I think this is an exciting idea. Go for it Sideshow.

Re: So if SSC got the license for DIFFERENT types of items..

Ooooh - 1/4 Scale Sam Carrying Frodo :drool I can't afford 1/4 at the moment, but I would go deeper into debt for that...

Or Aragorn bowing to the 4 hobbits :drool :drool :drool

Re: So if SSC got the license for DIFFERENT types of items..

AAaaaggghhhhh!!! Mustn't listen, preciousss!! Mustn't listen to the nasssty hobbitsess!!

Re: So if SSC got the license for DIFFERENT types of items..

I think this is a fantastic idea, but I doubt I would buy more than maybe 1 or 2. Maybe a Gandalf, Ringwraith, or an Aragorn.

The SW 1/4's are absolutely fantastic, and are my favorite line. I have both Luke's and they're like having a miniaturized "prop replica" of Hamill.

Re: So if SSC got the license for DIFFERENT types of items..

If they did come out and were up to SW's standard (which i'm sure they would be...) I believe you will be eating your words elwood...:lol

Re: So if SSC got the license for DIFFERENT types of items..

:lol Maybe I would. It's not that I wouldn't want them, I'm quickly running out of room!

Re: So if SSC got the license for DIFFERENT types of items..

I heard Dave collects Dolls..

Re: So if SSC got the license for DIFFERENT types of items..

Give me a 1:4 scale Denethor with tomato, statue. and I'll be happy. :rock 8)

Re: So if SSC got the license for DIFFERENT types of items..

I would definitely buy the 1/4 scale figures, but I would want the line limited to a reasonable number. The Fellowship of course, major characters from each race (only two or three), a few (FEW mind you!) orcs and possibly Sauron, but a 1/4 scale would be huge!!! :google

As for anything else, I'm not sure... about the only thing that I would probably consider would be 1/6 scale, but it would depend on what they look like. I don't think I would want 1:1 busts or props just because of the cost and size (please don't tempt me!); the 1/4's would take up enough room as it is!!! :drool

Re: So if SSC got the license for DIFFERENT types of items..

After all the money this has cost me..... I'd have to say I love what I got{& i got weta} and thats it.... no more, i mean where does it end? my house is becoming middle earth!!!

hmmm i do have a bit of room in me garden
Treebeard water feature or rivendel tool shed........ any chance SS?

Re: So if SSC got the license for DIFFERENT types of items..

Quarter scale balrog, please! <img border=0 src="https://home.earthlink.net/~dstephan/gifs/1118.gif" />

Re: So if SSC got the license for DIFFERENT types of items..

Thanks Dave for posting this!

I would really enjoy seeing fully articulated clothed figures from Sideshow Collectibles.

Specifically because in the clothing could be realized the consistent look of all members of the fellowship at the time when they were journeying from Rivendell to the Mines of Moria.

So we could get a Pippin! and Merry! not to mention a really snazzy Boromir, and a really great Aragorn! And these faces on the figures look really nice in the other lines, especially POTA. I would like to see close-to-actor faces on all the figures, a break away from what I usually prefer (far-from-actor similarity).

I would not like to see any full scale busts. There have been so many statues created that cost a good amount and the full-scale busts from other lines are very costly. It would seem a bit redundant, especially since 1/4 scale busts -and great looking ones at that - have already been produced.

I wouldn't mind seeing a few 1/4 scale statues, but keeping it to a minimum of primary and major secondary characters. Gandalf the Grey, Aragorn, Frodo, Saruman, Morgul Lord, Sauron.

I own most of these from the Weta line, and would consider getting these in a 1/4 scale format.

These are just my opinions.

Re: So if SSC got the license for DIFFERENT types of items..

I would consider it, realistically I do not think SSC can get LOTR license without WETA.

I love the 1:1 Busts and 1/4 Scale Statues but since they are so pricy, I would only want 1 or 2. I would prefer price of $500.

I would like a 1:1 Bust of Arwen in her White Gown (like Statue) but you have to include bust line. :arwen

I would like a 1/4 Scale Faramir Statue in Ranger Clothes.

As for 12" figures, nah, Toybiz makes Toys of LOTR, let them do that.

BTW, I think SSW should make a line for the Riddick Movies.

Re: So if SSC got the license for DIFFERENT types of items..

I prefer to see it end. To re-make statues that we already have to me would take the rarity and value away from what I already have... Part of the appeal to me is these items were designed by Weta, the talented people that worked on the movie and gives the items a sort of continuity with the film.
All good things must eventually come to an end. Let it happen....

Re: So if SSC got the license for DIFFERENT types of items..

Good point VTX, that SSC and WETA, with Weta being the special tie-in to the films it probably would not feel the same.

But, to me ending the line without a Faramir ain't good and my positive attitude says, keep asking, don't give up and they may do it. If everyone listened to the naysayers we would all still be living in caves.

Re: So if SSC got the license for DIFFERENT types of items..

Nah - not interested in cloth wearing bendy dolls.

The WETA connection is/was the big draw card for me too.

Great ideas and Im sure they'd be popular, just not for me.

I've only got SSW LOTR as my collecting habbit, and that's where it'll end.

You can do that yourself. Just start saving your feces and buy some gloves.... would really capture the essence of the film (i'm speaking about Chronicles here.. nothing against Pitch Black)

Now... where is that Mr. Hanky smiley.....
