I only painted the head on this figure. I was just starting out with Sideshow at the time, and neither Sideshow nor myself knew what I could do yet. After painting some sample heads of Hawk, they liked how they came out so well that they used them on the prototypes.

Obviously SS want to show their Proto's in the best possible light using the best materials, paint apps etc but what a tease when we know everytime, the finished article will never look even half as good as this.
No doubt SilentSurfer's skills are fast disappearing off the charts...

Ye of little faith. Hawk marks the beginning of a new era for Sideshow 12" portraits. I've personally helped China to be able to duplicate my work. True, only time will tell, but from what I hear, things are looking good on China's end.

Here's Andy Bergholtz's sculpt for Hawk and some Hi-Res detail shots.

I had actually forgotten that I had done additional hat heads for this figure.

You're helping the workers in china duplicate your paint apps? That's cool in theory, but nobody will be able to duplicate your artistry man. However... Better production paint is always a good thing!

:) Unfortunately my painting style is now a trade secret for Sideshow and my own customizing business. I'm happy to tell what tools and paints I use, but can't give up the technique.

Argggghhhhhh man you are so lucky to be working with sideshow, but from your work you deserve to be top work as always

As a fan, it is fantastic to see Nathan working for Sideshow. And I'm thrilled that Sideshow is now working to get their production figures even closer to Nathan's incredible paint jobs. Having a few custom pieces done by him and seeing some of his Sideshow work at SDCC, I can safely say Sideshow has a real winner on their hands here with Nathan. I just hope Sideshow doesn't keep him too busy so we can still get some excellent custom work done by him :rock

:1-1::1-1::1-1: Oh, wow, you guys, you just made my year. Thanks for those words. Truly, when I paint something for Sideshow, I am always trying to go beyond what they expect because I know all my friends on the Freaks board are going to see it.
