Am quite hard to make jump but one that got me was in "The Descent" when they've entered the cavern and they swing the camera round with Night vision on and one of the creatures is just standing there behind them.

Another effective one was in "An American Werewolf in London" just that brief moment in the Underground (as we call it here in Blighty ;) ) where the guy's at the foot of the escalator and the wolf just enters the shot.

yes both are great scenes

In the Asian version of "The Eye", the elevator scene where the main character can see ghosts and one appeared right next to her in an elevator while she's alone going up. The ghost kept moving closer and closer and the main character couldn't get out of the elevator. That creeped me out.

JAWS
When the head pops out of the boat

the end of Friday the 13th (all of them pretty much) when they are on the lake in the boat and then they get grab and pulled back into the water...every single time that happens i always jump even though i know its gonna happen

During The Grudge, when the girl lights the match and is looking around the attic. You can tell the face of the ghost is there the whole time, but it takes a while for the light to hit the ghost's face and the girl finally see it. Then it cuts to a shot of the girls torso and legs hanging out of the attic, being jerked around as if she's suddenly turned into rubber.

Makes the hair on my arms stand up every time.

Poltergeist always scares the crap outta me, especially the doll under the bed. Aything with dolls or clowns freaks me out though.

Bela Legosi always scared me as a kid. When he used to make that awful face before he bit someone. Gave me nightmares. And they used to darken everything and highlight his eyes.

He was my boogie man for years! :horror

when Dallas get attacked by the Alien in the airducts.

I know it's coming, but that scene always makes me jump

-The whole scene with Micheal Myers and Lorie Strode at the end of Halloween. (original)

-The entire Exorcist movie :horror but specifically when she did the spider walk down the stairs and the head spin.

-When The Woman is inside the house with the pregnant woman and she doesn't know it. (Inside)

-Pencil scene in the original Evil Dead

There is alot more but those are the ones I'm thinking of right now.

All the Henry Kane scenes in Poltergeist 2
