I was referring to the OP's request. Liefeld is an untalented, egotistical drunk. He can't draw a human figure to save his life and his stories are considered cringeworthy by second graders. It's a shame McFarlane doesn't have the balls to live up to his own vow that he'd leave Image before letting that little ____ back in. Sadly no.

oh in that case...yea i think he was joking.
I still think Leifeld had some talent. Just misplaced. His writing sucks, yes. But his art had a few bright spots. Also, I grew up with his art all over the place so maybe my unrefined eyes from back then are tainting my opinion. I used to think eek the cat was well drawn.

but you know what..i just scrolled up and saw that obama cover. Yea the guy sucks lol

After that Cap, my second favorite drawing by him, of all time, would be the Youngblood cover with Badrock, homaged after the Thing cover :yess:

Yeah this guy never had artistic or creative talents, the best thing he has going for him was the Deadpool creation which was a blatant ripoff of Deathstroke (DC).

Deathstroke = Slade Wilson
Deadpool = Wade Wilson

Deathstroke was around about 10 years before DP was.
Similar costumes, weapons experts etc. Not just similar, an intentional ripoff. Dude's a complete hack.

Liefeld....ugh.

Maybe they can do his Human Torch molesting the Thing as a dio:

The quote from the article best sums up my thoughts on his work:

This is what a woman looks like to Rob Liefeld. I can't even kid about this. It's ____ing ridiculous. ____ing ricockulous. She's wearing a string of pouches where her stomach should but could not possibly be and both her thighs and forearms are larger than her abdomen. She has a big ole ass and torpedo tits, and I geniuenly think that when Rob finished drawing her he sat back, frowned, looked over at his friend, and said "yikes, sorry, guy."

Then again I loved Michael Turner's work so what do I know.

I'd love a Sideshow Liefeld line of comiquettes or PF's. They could kick it off w/one based from one of his most celebrated renderings, Cap:

Moobs :rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

I agree 100% on Liefelds work as as being poorly substandard; and pose this question who did he know to get his work printed???

wow.. i never knew how much R.L ripped people off. Never thought about Deadpool/Deathstroke. Crazy!

Pretty much the consensus nowadays. The majority hates Leifeld.

I got no problem with his stuff, as he was big back in the 90's when I started collecting comics, and therefore there's a certain nostalgia in seeing his early stuff.

There is still a soft spot for this comic, which I was so happy to finally get back in the early 90's.

i feel the same nostalgia pangs you do. I grew up with his art all over the place. Now that i look at what i used to drool over i am beginning to think i am semi retarded lol.

I dunno. We had Lee (both Jim and Jae), McFarlane, Silvestri, Texeria and Portacio to compare Liefeld's crap to. IMO, it was still crap back then.

Mike Grell was my favorite artist as a kid so i still have no idea how i liked liefeld, but i did.

I was just referring to the time period bud. Some of my faves like Zeck on Punisher and Adams' Batman were already fond memories by that time.

I was just thinking of how different Grell vs Liefield were stylistically and how as a real young kid i liked Grell but as an adolescent i liked R.L. I am sure the big boobed women he drew helped.

Again, I think the honest reason guys like Liefeld were successful was because of how he (and other early marvel to image artists) started REALLY sexualizing the characters, this hadn't really been done in the late 80s or even early 90s. Even though he didn't know a lick about how female anatomy worked, neither did the 12 year old boys who bought 10 copies of each youngblood issue. It was the closest thing a pre-teen could get to porn without paying your older brother to go buy you a nudie mag.

And as many copies as he sold, it established him as a powerhouse. Now I honestly think he gets work and gets paid handsomely for it based on his past sales records. He's the guy that became popular and no one knows how but don't bother to ask why.
