I know we're a little past an actual Friday The 13th but there's another coming up next month (couple of weeks, actually), figured this would be fun. Rank all twelve in your order of preference, including Freddy Vs. Jason and the reboot.

My rank:

The Final Chapter
Jason Lives
Part 2
The New Blood
Part 3
Part 1
Reboot
A New Beginning
Jason Takes Manhattan
Jason Goes To Hell
Freddy Vs. Jason
Jason X

I'm a long-time fan of the series and will always have a special affinity for it as it got me into Horror at a young age. The films can be of varying quality but it definitely has serious high points. I'm unhappy the new movie keeps getting postponed over and over, but if it means more time to make it good I can live with that.

Also very excited for the upcoming video game that was announced recently. Hope you get to play as Jason.

4. Friday the 13th: A New Beginning (part 5)

5. Part 4: The Final Chapter

6. Freddy vs. Jason

7. Part III

9. Jason X

10. Part II

11. Friday the 13th (1980)

12. Jason Goes to Hell

That reboot was total garbage. They made Jason a boy scout.
There were parts I didn't like but overall it was probably the best written, acted and produced of any of them (which admittedly isn't saying a lot :lol). And I did like the traps and the fact Jason actually hustled a bit instead of just lumbering around. I can't really put them in order, but the only three Friday the 13th movies I'll ever watch again are Parts III, IV and the reboot (and of course any new ones that come out, at least once).

Jason Goes to Hell isn't a "Ft13" movie.
Freddy vs. Jason isn't a "Ft13" movie.
Jason X is a self-parody.

He was pretty lethal in it, the most menacing and violent he's been in years.

I never understood the hate that the reboot hates, when there is dog crap like part 9 out there....

I honestly think the hate for the reboot is just hate for remakes in general. Or purists that cannot accept anyone else playing Jason other than Kane.

Everything in the Reboot that people hated has been done in the older movies or had a perfectly good explanation.

People won't accept that Jason could have built tunnels but then they can believe his is a demon baby that possessed people, or went to space :rotfl:rotfl wtf
Jason making the tunnels was unrealistic but having him come back from the dead is totally cool... that logic baffles me.

And even the biggest complaint, where he kidnaps the girl, Doesn't Jason rape some girl in one of the earlier movies? so having sex is perfectly cool for Jason, but taking a girl that reminds him of his mom is totally wrong :lol (Besides the fact that two people were able to trick him including the kid in part 4)
The hate the movie gets is kind of ridiculous.

I think the reboot is pretty well done for what it was. But it is more of a "modern" horror film than the others, in that it's a bit "grittier" and less fun IMO. Or at least, that's how it seemed when I saw it after it first came out. He didn't feel like Jason so much as a generic, Jason inspired modern horror monster. Of course, there is a lot of variation across the original films, but a common thread at least through Jason Takes Manhattan was that they had an old school, '80s feel. They were fun despite being ostensibly grisly horror movies. I think Freddy vs. Jason kept that spirit going, despite it obviously coming out much later.

well thats a good point but i dont think grittier is a bad thing for this franchise, specially after the goofy part 9 and part 10, if anything grittier was the best thing to happen to the franchise

it makes me mad that everyone got sofreaked out over the reboot because we could have had great sequels if people didnt freak the hell out over it

It may have been seen be as a necessary move if the franchise was to continue to survive in modern times, but it makes sense it fans of the more "classic" films would be put off to it, even if it was good (and I thought it was OK). But if sequels were to happen, then that required the film making a connection with audiences, and I guess it didn't do that too well. Now people want to see "torture porn," exorcism films, or Insidious-style spooky ghost movies I guess.

'You're Next' is the only modern slasher flick that has that classic 80's feel.

Some characters are just confined to a period. Jason, Freddy and The Punisher live best in the 80s.
