When it comes to Enterprise, Discovery, and especially Voyager I'll be quite picky, personally, only really being interested in certain key characters from each. TOS, TNG, and DS9 I'm likely to go all in on, however. Kelvin Timeline/Universe, not interested in the slightest to be honest, but I'm sure I'll be glad for the break when any figures from that get made for the fans that want them.

Personal preference for me is to continue TOS, and throw in a little TMP.
In mean time, Scotty is beaming across now. Should have him muscling in on Kirk’s chair by the weekend.

You should thank QMx for not firing me for being such an *******, acting like a crying baby or a psychopath.

OMGs I'd love to know more about that.......!

Thank you for your kind words. The workers at the factories that did our figures know these figures meant a lot more than just merchandise to me and the buyers.

I looked straight into everyone eyes and shoke their hands when they delivered the finished parts. They know my appreciation was sincere.

Most QC issues were informed by them and not the owners, so I could correct the issues before they went out of control.

They are the ones who made these figures, and you guys are the ones who supported this mission. I am just a lubricant.

My dear trekkies in the room: you are so lucky to have nanjin... I said it before: this is the future of merch manufacturing. From fans, for fans, with fans.

Then you should watch or re-watch the Deep Space Nine episode "Trials and Tribble-ations" and that should give you all the impetus you need to dive right into the original series so you can start enjoying all of these awesome releases!

I watched some parts of it, read about it on Wikipedia, and it must be one of the most endearing ST chapters ever, built on top of the most endearing ST chapters ever! Such a great idea! Does Discovery even compare to that?

Honestly, it's never too late to start! I grew up in East Germany in a place where I was not able to watch TOS in the Seventies. Later I thought I would not enjoy it if I hadn't grown up with it. I tried the new movies but realized I don't know enough about the franchise, so I started at the beginning and quickly fell in love with it. It has good stories and great actors. You can overlook a wobbly set and simple special effects then. It all adds to the charm.

Likewise, I have only seen the one DS9 episode with the Tribbles, but one day I am going to expand my horizon.

That is a great story right there. You have beamed me back to my first encounter with TOS. Summer in some resort, filled with britons, building had UK TV channels. I knew very little English back then, yet TOS left an unforgettable impression.

And Astra you are so right about bad FX highlighting the gravitas and huge writing effort. Those humble shows put to shame everything done today. This is so sad...

Small size and flexibility is the advantage of Trek.

Let me leak a little more to you guys....

Each and every single 1/6 Starfleet uniform will be produced by a Prototyper, not mindless workers who rely on muscle memories.

I have a specialist for each series of Trek uniforms. They will take turns to be the production manager for the specific job on hand, while the other specialists become supporting staffs.

OMGs that is so awesome Nanjin! These figs are going to be a milestone in 1/6 History.
And your description of guys actually making 1/6 figs in China's production lines, as harsh as it sounds, is not that far away from what I imagined.

Little question nanjin: is Trek very loved in China?

And what segments do you discern in the 1/6 Trek market, nanjin? TOS, TWOK, TNG/DS9/Voyager and Kelvin timeline?

Enjoy your figs you all!!

China has a strong KTL fan base. 90% ladies. China fand behave differently because of the culture background. Chinese like to belongs to groups, and the fans have extreme powers in China. I am the Grand Daddy Trek fan in China. I received the first Beyond ticket in 2009, and Alibaba made a big shxt out of this.

I segmented Trek into 3 major groups:
1) TOS/TNG (35+)
2) DS9, VOY, ENT (25~40)
3) KTL, DISCO (all age)

Trek vs Trek phenomenon are more intense among individual group.

Group 1 has the highest possible disposable income (kids grew up, less responsibilities), and because of the age, these buyers have the highest desire to find their long lost memories. Most have extra “Space” at home.

Group 2 has the highest personal finance challenges (building family, career, working for the future). Budgeting is essential. and the singles within this group will have the highest number of people acquiring “addictive buying behavior.” They limited “Space” at home. So this group is the most picky because they have a not of other things in life.

Group 3 are mostly all inclusive.

The above are educated assumptions only because there are no data to support them. They are not “findings.”

I will formulate a survey this year so I can better understand you guys. Supply side economics cant run forever. Demand is alwayd the final driving force. 1/6 trek started out as Supply side economics (I supply Trek figures, you guys buy). It is time to turn the table to really know the REAL demand.

Agreed, they would look so damn cool in 1/6. And it'll be interesting to see if those carry over to the DSC crew by the end of the season, since they made it clear these are the new Starfleet uniforms.
Is made

My 8 year old son was admiring the Star Trek line up on the shelf and was asking how the details could be so perfect at such a small scale. I fired up the 5 minute YouTube video of Nanjin at the QMX booth to show the amount of care that goes into these figures and his mind was blown. Thanks Nanjin for not only creating amazing figures but for contributing to some cool Father and Son moments too.

Wow. Nanjin that was really insightful and I don’t know about anybody else but it pretty much fit me. I just barely make it into group 1 age-wise and sure enough I will be all in for TOS & TNG as long as I can afford it plus my wife and I also enjoyed the new movies. My kids have been introduced but only to TOS & TNG stuff. Funny thing is that I also watched some DS9 which kind of fits since I am right on the boarder age-wise. The only thing I would change is with 3 kids my financial situation is probably more in line with group 2 lol.

The prime objective of my 1/6 Trek crew is to bring a smile.

This is the most powerful motivation for me! Thank you for giving me a happy day!

Yeah, there are those like you who are right in between Group 1 and 2.

I think you might need to choose your side. All series collecting can take your lunch away

Definitely group 2 here, but TOS is where my heart is because of my parents (despite my father preferring TNG). I might even skip lunch here and there for it. :rotfl

My mom would watch it in Germany on a tiny TV in her attic growing up. The travel, mystery, and adventure of the series is what she loved. Dad grew up in the US and would watch it (being 10 years older) for the science and social commentary. I always found it so fascinating that the same series elicited such a different response from two people countries apart.

Now as a scientist myself I love the predictions and forward thought regarding everything the show clearly had for the time, and just how much ingenuity and creativity it brought. So I sort of get to enjoy both of their halves together as a result.

I’m definitely in Group 1. A kid of the 60s, I grew up with Trek my whole life; took a few years for TNG to grow on me (until they introduced the Borg the series was just too boring for me). I grew up with Kirk and company always DOING something; Next Gen was like watching a BBC drama — all talking heads, until they started to have more actual conflict. I disliked DS9 from the get-go, mostly because I knew the creators of Babylon 5 had shopped that show around for years, and then when they finally got the Green Light at a different Network — BAM! — here comes a new Trek series with practically the same premise. Only ever watched a handful of episodes, but it never really caught on for me. Voyager I enjoyed from the beginning, however, as I liked the idea that they were cut off from the rest of Star Fleet — which opened them up to all new alien species. By the time Enterprise came out, what with all the movies, etc., it was just too much by that point, and I didn’t really care. Only ever saw maybe five full episodes of that show — and not in any particular order. Despite the changes to the original Trek characters with the Chris Pine movies, I actually enjoyed them, but I have ZERO interest in Discovery (I’ve read too many things about it that turn me off to even waste my time). Michelle Yeoh was about the only reason I had any intention of watching it, since I’ve been a fan of hers since the early 80s, but I’ll just enjoy the Treks I like, and forget about the rest. As far as figures go, though, there’s a number I’d probably get from all of the series, just because I thought certain characters were interesting— despite how I felt about the program they happened to be on.

Lol so true. I will probably stay in group 1 with a maybe a purchase here or there from the other series.

I'm in group 1. Grew up on TNG, but always enjoyed TOS. I love the classic look of the TOS uniforms, they really pop on the shelf. I wish I could get every line, but then I'd be single and paying child support! [emoji38] So I'm just sticking with TOS.
