Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette. BACK UP FOR PO.

. To answer your first question however, you can't get a decent large scale P2 anywhere else sadly. I'm not sure that is a genuine reason alone to buy this one though.

It's not for me. Maybe if I were rich, otherwise, there are tons of other great character I love that look perfect as is, so it's easy for me.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette. BACK UP FOR PO.

Pity Sideshow didn't use the fella Kotobukiya hired for their 1/6 vinyl P2 figure (Keiji Iwakura).

I've always loved this (excepting the angle of the blades) - great proportions.

I had that until it fell apart :lol I bought it as soon as I saw it as I loved the pose!

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette. BACK UP FOR PO.

• We have a 1/4 scale P2 maquette that will sit nicely with the already-present (and admired) P1 maquette.

Also going to add that the original P1 maquette, being a piece co-produced by SWS, is nearly perfect. Putting this P2 maquette alongside will only make its inaccuracies more obvious. The two pieces are simply not in the same league. If I were lucky enough to own the P1, seeing this disaster next to it would make me die a little inside. :lol "Oh, what could have been?"

There was one silver lining that came out of the P2 production mess. I had a bit of money to put towards this... ;)

that's only one you really need man if you were just to have 1. I will be going with cool props for my P2 needs more than likely.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette. BACK UP FOR PO.

Fell apart? - what caused that Matt?

Do you have one? Is it still standing if so?

It's a masterpiece. I'm just a huge P2 fan myself, it would be nice to have a City Hunter of the same standard beside him. I wonder why they never made one with SWS back in the day?

Yep - another great point. Very happy with my decision to ditch this.

A silk purse from a sow's ear one cannot make (unless you are really talented or want to pay out (maybe) another 1-2 grand for resculpting/repainting etc.)

Sideshow's art directors on this should have been taken out and shot (with a spoon) for wasting such a great opportunity.

I have 2. 1 mint-in-box, and the other sits proudly on the top of my monitor - has done since I bought it on initial release.

Some of the parts were tight to fit - but a bit of hot water fixed that - sweet as a nut then.

That's good, maybe I got a bad one then. It always felt real cheap to me, but it simply started gradually warping and eventually fell off a shelf and snapped a few bits. Wasn't in any kind of heat or direct sun light so I'm not sure what happened tbh, It only lasted a year or so. I'm a bit wary of buying anything plastic now collectible wise. I think it might be lost in the attic somewhere, I may try and dig it out some day to see if there is anything I can do to resurrect it.

It's a great sculpt. Hopefully a bit of superglue would fix the necessaries.

Looking at THIS head & mask closely will stop you considering the Sideshow one though :lol

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette. BACK UP FOR PO.

Even if the paint on the CoolProps bust turns out crap, the sculpt seems pretty dead-on from what we've seen, plus it's from the original molds if I remember correctly.

I'd be more than willing to pay for it to be custom painted, and have a perfect P2 bust. Something you can't do with this maquette since the sculpt is far from perfect.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette. BACK UP FOR PO.

That's weird - several posts have disappeared - WTH is up with that? :slap

Admins/Mods? - seriously?

We had this the other day, some very light hearted and actually informative posts regarding old waitlists converting were removed. They didn't seem to go against anything in these new rules which I did actually read. Lets hope it stops very soon. We're all pretty respectful here for the most part. Would be a shame if the joking about ended....

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette. BACK UP FOR PO.

I'm not sure how the rules were violated be here ya goes anyways...
(Probably the highlighted section but errors need to be pointed out)

Code of Conduct
We promote the idea of lively debate. This means you are free to disagree with anyone on any type of subject matter as long as your criticism is constructive and polite. We don't want to inhibit humor, snark or enforce strict PC rules, but think about how your words will be taken by other members.

If you are ever in a position where you feel you have been personally attacked, do not respond to that attack. Please report the post by clicking on the report button found within the message. Let the staff deal with the problem, if you respond to that attack, you may find yourself removed as well, and we don't want to see that happen.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette. BACK UP FOR PO.

Thanks both! :hi5:

So that bolded bit is new? Heck - I think that could result in half the forum being deleted :lol

Seriously though - there's a least 1 of my deleted posts that would have broken that so I get it now. I still would have appreciated a heads-up from whoever deleted it though - politeness goes both ways.

No worries - I've got backups - I'll try and reword things so they hopefully won't cause offence.
