Unless he had access to the ADI molds, It is definitely a copy of the Sideshow mask.
Could be a copy of the DX one too.

I don't think the DX version is a mold of the sideshow version as its so much smaller. I had both.

Do you have a side by side shot? The only one I have seen there was not much difference.

The DX is smaller that the SSC version
the DX is a recast of the SS. There are a lot of recasts of all the Bios out there. A recast of the SS version will automatically make it a tad smaller.
A recast should be exactly the same size.
I know it is smaller, in the pic I saw it was slight and you would never notice unless they were right next to each other.

The DX is a recast of the SSC version, it is well known, the process did make it slightly smaller for whatever reason but it is a copy none the less.

Castings are always slightly smaller than the original piece the mold was made from - and less detailed.
The amount varies depending on the molding/casting techniques used.
