Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Yeah, like system wide failure. But I've got a feeling, mine only, that this is not THE derelict, nor is this Acheron/LV-426...

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

From what i saw in the trailer the alien ship crashes "head" first and seems to roll over.
The Derelict from ALIEN looks to have crash landed on its belly.
So no not the same ship.

The one from PROMETHEUS explodes in midair because of a collision.
Check high rez images of the moments where Vickers and Shaw are running you will notice debris from the human ship, the most visible being the landing gear.
Guess some Cpt decided to sacrifice himself to avoid someone from reaching Earth...

Wait!!!
Everybody probably already knew that:slap

I'll be highly anticipating the final few minutes of Prometheus to see how it ties in with the Alien 'DNA'.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

They are not the same ship, Lindelof said so and Scott too.
This is not a direct prequel to ALIEN.
It will not end up with a bunch of eggs on LV426.

But lets just check some facts.
The front parts of the Horseshoed ship crash, it's a safe bet that tehy will be quite damaged.
Those of the Derelict are ok.
There will be also a huge hole on the hull caused by the collision with the Prometheus (or Magellan shuttle).
No sign of it on The Derelict and i doubt that Scott would miss such a continuty error.
If he wanted them to be the same ship he would have find another way to make the ship crash.
I think Scott even said that the Derelict actually landed on LV426, the Engineer pilot probably tried to save himself from what was growing inside him and hoped for help.

Can you imagine being that pilot. From the original, they seem to travel alone and then to be impregnated, with full knowledge of the results possible. And then be alone on a completely inhospitable planet.

Watched Alien last night. The Jockey scene always fires up my imagination. And the music score it phenomenal.

:D

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I never thought a trailer for a trailer would get me excited....but it did. IT DID.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

150 million. I believe. Maybe 200. Hence why it has to be PG-13 during the theatrical run.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

That was the most incredible trailer for the second trailer for a movie that I have ever seen.

We get a look at what they're shooting at also.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

^ and comedy.

Actually, torture porn crap has been out of the theater for a year. Thankfully.

But I don't know what the point of your post was. :lol...this movie SHOULD get an R, but for the sake of making a profit, and that I trust Ridley Scott more then any human being (even James Cameron) with the Alien series, I'll believe him when he said he filmed both versions.

It doesn't need to be an R to be a great film, that's my point. I'd rather they try and build up genuine tension and execute scares correctly then to just see people get their guts splattered everywhere. Alien and Aliens wouldn't even get an R rating these days.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Aliens might not, but Alien would. If not for the giant sexual images.

The MPAA doesn't rate on the amount of gore, and violence. They rate a lot of times on tone.

A movie like Captain America gets a free pass to show BLOOD AND GORE because the movie is overly light in tone.

A movie like Alien would still be a hard R today, because it's tone, and look. I'm not bull____ting you. The MPAA is that stupid/

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

There could be more than just guts that would give it an R rating.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

^ Exactly.

The whole pregnant stuff (which we saw a second of in the leaked trailer) is not really PG-13 material.

Maybe we are at odds because of our different rating systems.

In the US maybe but in the UK most of your R's are 15's over here. Teenager central.:thwak
