I would say watch them all but, if you wish to "cut to the chase" then I would choose the 9th Dr in 2005

I would vote for Benedict Cumberbatch as the next Doctor after watching him in Sherlock. Amazing show by the way. Also a Moffat product.

I would have hoped for a "crossover" between the two but don't want to see him as the Doctor.

Agreed. He was my favorite modern Doctor. So damn good in that role. I can't imagine anyone else coming close.

You CAN start anywhere. I'd suggest, however, Starting with the 2009 series, with Christopher Eccolson. And then, if you're currious going back and watching the older stuff.

Now, if you're a fan of vintage, 60's sci-fi, ( classic star-trek, lost in space, etc) then go ahead and give teh OLDER stuff a go first.
