Second mantis arrived and one of the knee joints is completely ****ed beyond repair. Not having good luck with these. :slap

It's a shame because the sculpt is phenomenal but the QC is bad.

Generally what are the joints like on the gorilla alien? Are they as floppy and loose as the mantis?

I had the same issue with one of mine. I swapped the mantis upper body/upper arms onto a regular xeno lower half/lower arms and it looks pretty good, but I still need to repaint it.

Awesome. Ops Vasquez is essential.

They should make it another two pack with Ops battle Hicks.

That's a nice pic! Cool lighting really makes them look like a set, highlights and shows of the differences in the sculpts. Making me consider reorganising mine. :)

pity that Lambert has no normal face to wear with the helmet on, just some screaming pig face. she's ugly but not that much.
I thought that was an odd choice aswell. I think if anything I would have made the uncovered headsculpt the one with the panic-face.
I thought this too, the likeness of the distressed face doesn't look too great so far. Although I'm grateful they are giving us expressions, it's difficult I'm sure to capture and retain likeness.

As I've said before, an expression accessory pack, of heads for all the figures would be truly awesome. And thinking about it, with the advent of this new NECA Alien Club, surely more doable. Because obviously such a thing would be too specialist for retail, especially when many of the figures might be/are not readily available to complement it.

In the meantime, I'm thinking it shouldn't be too difficult to mod the neutral head into a hooded one.

Funny how also today when a fan tweeted out how one earth NECA could top the Queen figure while showing their red and blue black queen figures, Randy said we will find a way.

Curious, what on earth could top their Queen figure in the Alien line ?
a queen in a nest, with an egg layer.
no other ideas.
That would be the only thing to top it, a proper hive diorama piece.

This remains the ultimate. Obvious difficulties apply. Not least that not only is the egg sack huge! But it's also intrinsically supported by the structure from which it hangs. Meaning that would also need to be replicated/produced to some degree. Clear supportive stands underneath would be a compromise, and I'd happily work out my own way of replicating the slimy webbing/structure from the film if it meant we got the sack. The queen herself would require upgrades. Her arms and legs can't achieve the necessary angles to properly replicate her dormant, and perched look, respectively. There's also all the spines/ribs that are behind her. Of which I'm not even sure how, and to what, they are actually attached.

All that said, as for it being the "reward exclusive", absolutely no way! All that tooling, they'd have to make it available to all, they'd be doing themselves out of mega sales, and not recouping the costs. And driving those not in the program insane!

I really hope it happens somehow. It's a big investment on they're part, but I'm sure people would fork out for it. I believe the fact that it's never been done (comercially), and the sheer coolness factor alone would transcend merely action figure collectors.

I'm guessing he's probably talking about their take on the Kenner flying queen. He's alluded to it in the past.
Urgh, that would be a disappointing "reward". I just can't get onboard with the Kenner stuff. I must admit, seeing them in package does bring back a strong sense of nostalgia, but as someone here said once, they were only ever a substitute for the realistic figures we really wanted.

My favorites were always the more realistic looking ones, mostly the black warrior from the versus predator 2 pack. The Scorpion was cool, for the gimmick, and looked like the movie warrior. The Queen action figure also looked quite accurate, albeit a stubby version (the Queen from the Hive set being very accurate, but more a statue than an action figure).

For the flying Queen, mostly I don't care to much for the punk mohawk looking design of the head. I think only the sheer scale of something like that might impress.

A more realistic take might look like this (and be oddly in tune with their current comic crossover modus):
3145886.jpg
But then it wouldn't be Kenner. (And still not something I'd be interested enough to buy, because I'm more of a movie canon purist.)

My biggest gripe with Neca's Kenner line is not that it's not canon, but that it focuses most on replicating the original figures, warts and all, rather than the concept of the figures.

It's not a criticism, because I know that was their intent, and they've achieved that. I'd just hoped that it might be more of a reimagining of the idea. Creating Gorilla, Mantis aliens, and so forth, but realising them more realistically, in design terms, colours etc. But as I say, I understand that was never the intention, nostalgia was, so fair enough, just not for me.

how can an avp dinosaur top anything, especially the original queen?
Agree. The more I see that version, the more dumbed down it looks. Practicalities for CGI work most likely.

Looks like a Ops Vasquez is in the works
Just spotted this too! Sweet! I was hopeful this would happen, single use of that new tooling seemed unlikely.

Aliens are supposed to be bio-mechanical
to look, not to be.
if they were supposed to be biomechanical, they would be built in factories and modify themselves with mechanical stuff to grow up, not be born from living creatures and grow from a baby into a grown species by eating food.

Anyone know what all the veins on the diamond select egg are supposed to be? In the process of repainting it but don't see veins on any reference pics. Not sure if it's fluid dripping and if I should just blend it in with the rest of the egg.

...the Alien: Resurrection sculpt is almost identical to what you see in the movie and you're really blind of you can't see it. To start the legs, feet, hands and forearms are different if you care to look.

The negativity and whining in this forum it's too. A lot of the people are here just to complain and troll. If you don't like NECA and their Alien line what are you doing here? Don't you have something better to do? NECA has done a lot more for Alien collectibles then anyone else and yet you keep asking for more and bitching about that one figure or accessory seems only you care.

I'm done with you.

I don't know what I missed - I have some on ignore so maybe that's what I missed. I love what Neca has done and appreciate it all. I give praise as well as criticism just based on what I see from their products but there's been mostly positive stuff from me.

Speaking of which, I got the Hicks & hudson 2 packs today, the flesh injected plastic looks incredible on Hudson but not as good on Hicks - maybe because of his lighter hair, not sure. The armour & bdu's are painted a little different than the earlier releases so it's up in the air for me as to which paint schemes I like better. Hudson's helmet is more accurately patterned but other than the 8 ball the rest of his helmet markings are a little hard to make out. All accessories are very good and I had no problem getting the shoulder lamps in.

Very glad I got the set and since this year may be light on Aliens stuff it was nice to get them back in production.

Did a bunch of posts get deleted or something?
i see it now - somebody said Hiya toys use game designs for their predators so we can see game preds from them, if Neca doesn't want to do it; i posted images to show that they copied tsang's "eldur" predaturd's head & purse sculpt for their figure (the most visible fails in HT sculpt); and everything from first mention of predators is not there anymore, officially explained as offtopic i believe :)

There's also all the spines/ribs that are behind her. Of which I'm not even sure how, and to what, they are actually attached.
i always thought "to the ceiling tubes", like on a sketch, but it looks like they were actually attached... to nothing :lol

even people who made this diorama likely had no idea what to do with those bones or what those bones are (or just did exactly what they saw instead of inventing something that wasn't actually in the movie):

You really can't see the differences? I thought you liked AR.

The head is wrong, the legs are wrong, the arms are wrong, the hands are wrong, the pelvis is wrong, the tail is ok and the torax is ok and the proportions overall are wrong.

It's as accurate as the P2 mask, which is kind of accurate and you can tell it's the City Hunter's mask, but the details are all sorts of wrong with the slightest inspection.

But I'm fine with buying the inaccurate City Hunter, I even praised it big time because it's a fun figure, and I will be fine with buying the inaccurate Resurrection Warrior because I already know NECA won't improve it, but if really you can't see the differences, then you're the one who needs laser surgery brah.

Why is it that you always feel the need to shill for companies? Serious question, it's the only thing you do man, you did it with Mafex to the point of denying the countless QC reports until it happened to you.

You owe nothing to these companies and since we're the ones buying the damn plastic things, we're allowed to point out when they screw up, in a respectful manner obviously, minding the etiquette and upholding the CoC above all.

And at the end of the day they don't even ****ing listen to us so why do even get all worked up? :lol

Yeah, if NECA does their own ' official ' version I am guessing it will be basically the egg sack with a basic floor and wall pieces to help it be ' strung up ' and maybe have the capacity to fit in a few eggs in the sack itself. As for whether it should allow the Queen to fit on it as well........I am quite ok with them not making another new Queen for this one as long as the egg sack set comes with some great features and the paint apps are as great as their work on the Spider Gremlin.

I hope neca continues their dark horse comics trend by making characters from the original aliens comics - Hicks (scarred), teenage New

The new dark horse life and death series has some great characters they could make into figures.

Also, I want them to make more Kenner marines - Drake, apone, Hicks and bishop.

Their Kenner inspired series is awesome.

I'd really like to see the Judge Dredd crossovers in particular.

Thought these series of tweets was awfully amusing:

Hope they get this done!

I don't have "the Twitter", but could any of you inquire about a 1:4th scale Dog Alien?
It seems like the 6th scale ones sold very well.

Got an email about Club X Alien from NECA.

Next week, fans in Europe, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Japan will be able to enroll in NECA CLUB x ALIEN! We will post links as soon as these sites are live.

Packed in with Series 11 and Series 12, Club members will find a very special chapter of Alien collectibles history. The 3-D pop-up Space Base playset was exclusive to the UK with certain Kenner action figures in the mid 1990s. Now, 20 years later, we are bringing this back just for the Club, and we have increased the size of the set to be in scale with our 7” Aliens action figures.

Each of the 6 pieces we’ve replicated was a different “zone” of the base, like the Lab Area or Main Control Deck, and each had part of a running story on the back. When fully, assembled the Space Base extends over 3 feet in length and is 11” tall.

Three of the pieces will be included with Series 11, and three with Series 12 as part of our effort to reward the loyalty of the completionists enrolling in NECA CLUB x ALIEN!
