I hope you haven't been set up for major disappointment.

I mean those videogame TMNT Shredder and footsoldiers were also considered 'huge' and I'm like ''..........k...''.

Yeah but he makes it sound like a wide press release is being made that's out of his hands. Sure it's only a day of hyping myself up wouldn't be the worst.

You're right actually, I read it like it was going to be a NECA-specific announcement.

No particular interest in Bladerunner merchandise myself but I know it's a big grail for a lot of people due to it not being licensed out before.

They've finalized deals for all the remaining Aliens casts' likenesses.

What? I can dream... :impatient:

Has anyone found an easy remedy for the legs on figures being uneven? Wife just brought me a Ripley/Newt, and both have uneven legs. Are they just not plugged in all the way?

EDIT: Yeah. It was definitely just not plugged in all the way. Heated it up and gave it a push, and it's all good now.

For those interested, old hair fits on the new head, but new hair doesn't fit on the old head. Reason being, the new head has the key grooves cut further down. The old head has the grooves cut higher making the new hair sit higher than intended. Nothing some light modification couldn't remedy if one were so inclined.

January 8th, today, is Roy Batty's incept date. They might be trying to do a tie-in and hype us for the new film. I would love a press release from WB listing all licensing partners like NECA, Sideshow, Hot Toys and Prime 1 Studio for figures and statues. It'd be very cool if HT released the news as they usually do early in the morning.

I haven't seen Randy make this kind of an announcement in a long time. The BTS people are forcing his hand, he must have been saving it for Toyfair.

I think the more they dip their toes into the bigger movie and tv franchises they will learn that they have to play ball and just let the announcements happen and not be so secretive about who and what they get which is what I think Randy prefers it to be. More control that way.

As for what the big announcement could be, maybe finally an APC for the Aliens line :rotfl

I have a sneaking suspicion its nothing Aliens related somehow.....I've reached the point where I don't get my hopes up anymore and just roll with whatever they come up with. I would like to know the full compliment of the Alien Resurrection line though as they seem to be working on it.

Thats cool. Straight out of the scene where she leaves the APC but hesitates before walking in (and Hicks asks "are you ok?")

Side note, I think the main problem with the new head is the eyes and teeth are 'too white'. If it were more toned down, it wouldn't 'pop' in all the wrong ways as much. It may not solve everything, but a wash to tone it all down would help I think.

FWIW, I think Burke is possible at some point. There were retweets from last years SDCC in reference to Paul Riser's willing-ness or interest. If its an APC, oh boy better come up with some coin !!! But given the timing of the " huge announcement " I doubt that it is any thing to do with Alien(')s figure.

Randy never ever reveals anything big in January. He saves everything he can for Toyfair in February. Now I was thinking his trump card for that is the Covenant line, but it is possible Fox might be forcing his hand in announcing Alien Day plans, or WB doing the same to generate hype early for Blade Runner 2049 by announcing merchandising partners for the original and sequel. I've been nagging Randy for months now about Blade Runner and he never replies to anything on that subject in case another follower sees it and jumps the gun.

The main issues with the rights for it are the financiers and the actors' contracts; Jerry Perenchio and Bud Yorkin, they are what's known as the Blade Runner Partnership. Perenchio is a billionaire so might not need or care about further profits from a film he produced nearly 40 years ago. Yorkin died recently, so it's possible his estate is more open to income from licensing. WB simply has distribution of the film in all formats, whereas the Ladd Company, owned by Alan Ladd Jr, basically got the ball rolling in financing and producing the film. The actors themselves will each have to be approached individually for approvals, which as we all know can be a long and tedious process. Ford should be okay, even though his rights were part of the contract for Star Wars, he did have to approve his Indy merchandise.

The new film is a co-production between WB and Alcon Entertainment, I don't know the exact details but it's possible they had likeness rights included in the contract this time, something that wasn't done back in 1981 when all the cast signed their contracts. WB knows the hue demand for any kind of merchandise with this franchise, so I'm hopeful they threw money at the problems to clear them up, so they can reap dividends for years to come. Essentially the new film is a soft reboot with Gosling possibly taking over from Ford should the film be any kind of a hit. At the least, it's pretty much guaranteed HT will make Gosling and Ford, possibly Jared Leto given his popularity with the Joker.

Well no aliens stuff but A "Neca Scale " Harrison would be good for customizers.
