Sorry if this was already said but this game is going to be $35.00 on Thursday Nov. 26th at Bestbuy.

this game is dead to me....got killed on route to rescue vehicle after surviving the whole campaign(s) on hard rain and dark carnival :lol

Scavenger mode is a lot of fun. It's nice being able to play a quick game against some people instead of a long vs. match sometimes.

This game is a big improvement over the last. Probably 50/50 split with my game time with this game and COD.

I hear ya man, I died on the ****ing boat and didn't get an achievement! :lol

Yeah man. The final chapter of dark carnival is a pain.
It took us about tries to beat it. When they throw a Hunter, Charger, Jockey and a ****load of zombies at you at the same time, that is just stupid! :D

We need to get eight people for some Vs.!

DLC for spring 2010

December 14, 2009 - Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress, and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced the first game add-on for its co-operative zombie thriller, Left 4 Dead 2 (L4D2), is in development and targeted for release in early 2010.

Dubbed "The Passing," the first game add-on for L4D2 brings the original Left 4 Dead (L4D1) Survivors down south for a meeting with the L4D2 cast, while delivering new single-player, multiplayer and co-operative gameplay for the PC and Xbox 360.

Targeted for release in early spring, "The Passing" takes place just after the Dead Center campaign of L4D2. Set in a small town in rural Georgia, players assume the role of the L4D2 Survivors as they meet with the L4D1 characters.

In addition to the new co-operative campaign and associated narrative, "The Passing" will include new arenas for Survival, Versus and Scavenge mode and introduce a new co-operative challenge mode of play. The Passing will also include a new "uncommon common" zombie class, melee weapon, and firearm.

"The Passing will become the most important campaign in the Left 4 Dead story, as all the Survivors are being called together in one campaign," said Doug Lombardi, VP of marketing at Valve. "It will also be a huge offering of new gameplay content, with something new for every game mode plus a new uncommon common and weaponry."

Exclusively available for the Xbox 360 and PC, L4D2 sets a new benchmark for co-operative action games. The title adds melee combat to enable deeper co-operative gameplay, with items such as a chainsaws, frying pans, axes, baseball bats, and more.

With the AI Director 2.0, L4D's dynamic gameplay is taken to the next level by giving the Director the ability to procedurally change weather effects, world objects, and pathways in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match the players' performance. The result is a unique game session custom fitted to provide a satisfying and uniquely challenging experience each time the game is played.

Finally, with new Survivors, boss zombies, weapons, and items, Left 4 Dead 2 offers a much larger game than the original, featuring more co-operative campaigns, more Versus campaigns, new Survival maps, and the new competitive game mode, Scavenge.

Left 4 Dead 2: The Passing is targeted for release in early spring for the PC and Xbox 360. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.

Awesome!!! I definitely will be downloading when it comes out for sure
Thanks for letting us know :rock

interesting, im curious to see exactly how we'll 'meet' the old cast...will they simply be AI or will we at some point meet up with the old crew and get to switch over? not sure how it would work. 8 survivors all working together?

it'd be kind of cool if it was as elaborate as having 16 players, 8 on each team for this specific campaign and being able to choose between the v1 crew and v2 crew, splitting off into two separated areas of the map and working towards the same point, so like two games happening simultaneously in real time.

another sort of fantasy situation would be linking together L4d1 and L4d2, kind of a bonus to people who stuck with the original. it'd be like an add on campaign for each , so if you pop in the original you can eventually meet up with another l4d2 game thats synced up with yours so perhaps for the finale the remaining survivors can all duke it out together against the infected and a monstrous AI.

who knows, im excited for the possibilities.

anyways i just played the game for the first time tonight! holy crap is this intense. having to shoot your way through the mall with the alarm going off, just struggling to get to that alarm is such a pain in the a$$ but ridiculously intense, more so than any moments from the original. delivering cola to the weapons clerk was just plain goofy fun. im loving this game so far, definitely not a DLC and fully worth the bucks for a sequel. hope to play with some of you freaks sometime!

add me!

I picked this up over the weekend. Very cool game, online is the usual mix of douches and 12 year olds though. What is with everyone taking advantage of the glitches? I get in a game and everyone is doing the whole pipe bomb/ propane tank glitch in the survival maps. It is like dude come on that isn't as fun.

hopefully the new dc is good. But for some reason I keep thinking the cameo is gonna be like the scene in Shaun of the Dead where he and his group meet their twins kind of thing. Just a hello and walk past.

I <fingers crossed> should be getting this for Christmas from my brother-in-law. Would have gotten it sooner, but with a new baby and me promising my wife that I wouldn't get another game since MW2 came out, I haven't really had the chance, money, or desire to get it for myself.

Hopefully it will happen. I played the first one to death.
