It's not an easy paint job for something mass produced, I've done some research and I think that the correct paint for the Mark II would be a mix of ghost chrome and mirror chrome - first one for the opaque chromed look, second one to add the smoother nearly wet reflections. It wouldn't be easy even for a kit builder since these are usually exotic automotive paints, movie IM paints are based on sports car. The production piece would be good for something in the 350-400$ price range, at over 500$ delivered I wouldn't settle for a "close enough" representation. It's still much better than the paint on Patriot and MK42.

chrome paint is extremely difficult to work with. I had a custom colossus painted by a pro, and he had a ***** of a time with it.

I think the paint on the SS piece is great. Not only does it look great but it seems to be a bit more of an accurate representation of anything that is metal and about to get painted. Metal things get brushed before being painted..Something the movie didn't pay much attention to due to the "cool look" factor.

Also, regarding the pose. He isn't balancing or surfing. If you watch the first fight scene in Iron Man 1 (where he saves the locals from the terrorists) this is the exact position he takes right before firing his repulsor. Left shoulder and left arm back to brace from the recoil. It's spot on.

Paint apps look sort of bad on foot.

I really do wish they would stop with the 'panel lines' all over their Iron Man pieces.

Imo it would look better with a black wash (even if uneven) rather then these uneven black lines.

Me too, it isn't just Iron man though, seems like a standard practice in these factories.

These are displayed in Disneyland.
It looks like brushed/shiny metal than just chrome finished.

Yeah we know it has a brushed metal appearance... And it has a nice reflection also, not a dull silver finish.

Chrome would look wrong, although better than what they delivered, but I wanted shiny... Like in the movie.
