I saw Depeche Mode's Black Celebration and Music for the Masses tour. It was a good show. I have no desire to see them now though. Congrats.

That might be an option, I'll check it out...
I'll pass on the beaches, we're there just for a couple of days.

And I just moved to San Diego last year from Chicago, been to Glendale an Universal for day trips, but that's it... first time to experience Los Angeles

Cool, anyway you could also check out The Grove/Farmer's Market (same place really) for some shopping (the wife?) etc.

Hollywood Bowl is awesome, saw Radiohead there! :naughty

Awesome. I like DM too. I was Dave Gahan from Enjoy The Silence video a few years ago for Halloween...except my dufus friends thought I was the Burger King.

Do you know where in the Hollywood Bowl the tickets are???

The Grove is good. You can also check the melrose strip for restaurants and stores with cool hip clothing and other stuff.

just in case you want something a little less touristy, Alergria (on Sunset) has amazing Mexican food for next to nothing... Cha Cha Cha has a great Caribbean menu... The Alcove is THE place for cake and coffee... The Dresden Room is a great place for drinks and entertainment... and Swingers, Fred 62, Millies, and Cafe 101 rock the best breakfasts in Los Angeles...

if you want something a little more touristy hit the Sunset Plaza and pick any restaurant... want paparazzi? hit The Ivy... the Arclight is definitely the place to catch a film and if you want to hang with celebs for coffee, check out Urth Cafe on Melrose...

I'll try to find out, but I'm hoping that they are close to the stage!! :D

Thanks!! And yes, they are!!

Sweet!! We're on a tight budget, but window shopping is always fun!!
I'd love to be there longer to meet with some freaks... oh well... there's still the get together coming up!!

Alright guys!!
We're back!!
Man, what an amazing short trip!!

This is just a quick recap with highlights of what happened!!

Sunday morning, we left San Diego and arrived @ LAX,
we were picked up by a Limo Sedan, then off to Hollywood!
THe first pic of the trip was something unexpected... but amazing!!
While riding on La Brea avenue on our way to Hollywood:

And just past that:

I found out that both were made by artist Thierry Guetta a.k.a. as Mr. Brainwash, and the MJ building is his studio.

We finally arrived at the Hollywood Heights Hotel, which is @ walking distance from the Hollywood bowl,
The hotel itself is kind of old but it has a very trendy bar/restaurant:

We decided to take a walk around Hollywood Blvd.
Here are a few pics!

The mandatory one:

Bumblebee... sort of... it was the coolest outfit... Gangsta-Elmo and Dwarf Vader sucked balls so I didn't bother with those... :lol

The Doors!!!

Continued on the next post!

Ok so continuing with Sunday night,
on our way back a couple of cool places:

Monday morning we went to Universal Studios...
I just realized that I didn't get any cool pictures there...
But we had lots of fun!!
We were there a couple of weeks ago and had a blast!!
But we missed a couple of "must" rides... so
We did the Mummy Ride, amazing but not as extreme/cool as the Orlando IMO,
and the Jurassic Park one, which is exactly the same as in Orlando...
we had some time, so we decided to check out the "Creature" Musical...
wow... what a Crapfest... seriously... a reminder of why I hate musicals...
stupid story, crappy acting... cool costumes and sets though...

Then we went to Universal Citywalk, did some window shopping and had lunch...
Concert was at 7:30 so we went back to Hollywood in the afternoon.

We planned a nice dinner at a Sushi place in Hollywood Blvd.
Geisha House!
Great food, but a bit expensive...

Then...
on to the concert!!

My first thoughts...
on the Hollywood Bowl...
wow!!!
One of the best places to see a concert!!
Excellent acoustics and down right awesome!!
Parking is a ^^^^^ though... we're glad our hotel was @ walking distance...

Second, we were on the Garden Boxes!!!
Check the map a few posts ago!!
Amazing location! Wow!! and free!!!

Opening was OK, Pete Bjorn and John:

I was very excited to see DM... 20 years waiting for this moment!!!

Here they are!!!

DSC01035.jpg

Show was amazing!!
Sound was excellent!
Performance, perfect!!!

They had this huge LED wall, that had a half sphere screen on top,
used for a bunch of cool effects... like a moon, planet, Crow's eye, Candy Bowl,
Sun and more... pics don't do it justice...

Anyway, a few highlights of the show!!

Finally,
today in the morning before breakfast...
we went out for a bunch of final pics... we wanted to avoid the crowds...

First, the Magic Castle... I couldn't find a member to invite us...
oh well... maybe next time!

A cool bus bench!

DSC01232.jpg

And finally... to wrap up the trip...
my small HT Cosbaby tribute to MJ... :monkey2

What an awesome experience this was...
though I was disappointed in Hollywood...
definitely the Golden Years and the Glamour are long gone...
still, we had a blast!!
We loved it!!
