Deja vu....:monkey1

Re: New hot toys wolverine pic...

I still think its funny that its called "X-Men Zero" overseas.

Re: New hot toys wolverine pic...

As this pic is being discussed already in the existing thread I will merge the two.

If Hot Toys is listening I wish they'd include a second head. Every figure should come with two heads. Throw in a head giving a second attempt at Jackman with the hair more like the poster and a different expression but also include the head that's 90% there.

not trying to steal your idea but i have thought that if sideshow and hot toys was smart they could make variant heads and sell them. i know i would buy and what they hey clothes too just an idea ha ha

No, it wouldn't be smart. The headsculpt is one of the most costly items in a figure as the body and somtimes the clothes and accessories are reused over and over again, but a headsculpt can't. That is why we don't see licensed headsculpt packs.

That idea I think has been done with the Mcfarlane 12 inch Halo figures. I think its a cool idea

Does anyone else find it strange that both Toys2 and Sideshow would list preorders based on one picture? I'm not sold yet.

What is weirder is that we already have full DX Batman info an pics in less than a week of him being announced and still no more info on Wolverine.

Hi Guys

Sorry I haven't read through the whole thread yet, so if this is already up somewhere apologies... Just did a quick google for Hot toys Wolverine and found this pic! Nice.

The sculpt isn't bothering me as much as the chain used for the dog tags...if it were "in scale", it would be a lot finer/thinner...as it is, they'd be the scale of Mardi Gra beads....hey, wait a minute! He did visit Gambit, didn't he? :lol

Seriously though...I hope we get some other preview shots to view soon...want to PO, but based on this image, I'm not quite there yet...

I reckon they should give him alternate clothing so the price seems fairer, army fatigues would be cool.

It could possibly be that they put this out there just to see how much interest there would be in it, whereas with Batman DX the interest is already there. Not that there wouldn't be interest, but with the Wolverine movie getting so much negativity, maybe they felt there wouldn't be as much interest in this verison of Wolverine. The prototype could've been made before the movie actually came out.

It could also be an experiment of some kind on their part.

Not really. There is already interest for the X-Men film characters that could be done without a problem, the ones I would think would be risks or experiments would be characters first introduced in this movie like Gambit, Deadpool or Blob. Wolverine is about as close to a slam dunk as they could get from this license with Sabretooth a close second only having risk in the change of look. I would wager its a tweak of likeness like the Arnold from Predator which they solicited fully then went to soliciting with just one pic so it isn't that strange.

I saw that toys2.net has this on pre-order. Was shocked because normally a "big" release is on their main page. However when you browse the Hot Toys section they have the same prototype picture and a short description. For those of us (like me) hoping for an alternate head, bone claws, etc ... looks like we're all out of luck :(

Of course things can change, but here is what is listed:

Pre-order: available in 4 Qtr 2009

The Wolverine 12 inch Figure features:

Newly developed Hot Toys hirsute muscular figure body with over 30 points of articulation Authentic likeness of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine

- Jacket
- Undershirt
- Shirt
- Jeans
- Boots
- Detailed belt
- Dog tags
- Two sets of interchangeable hands
- Figure base with Wolverine nameplate and film logo

For the hands I am assuming with and without claws.

What shocked me the most - A price tag of $169.99. Now I realise that Iron Man and some of the new Hot Toys releases (ie. Watchmen Spectre) are climbing in price but I am not sure how they are justifying this price point.

I mean there is no "light up" feature with wolverine. He doesn't have rooted hair and not even an alternate head? Apparently the "detailed belt" warrants the jack up in price of $20 to $25 more than other releases like Terminator Marcus and Resident Evil Wesker.

I will still probably get it - but damn I do sure feel like I am being milked here. It's almost like Hot Toys said "Let's release a bare bones Wolverine and charge extra for it because ... well what the hell ... it's Wolverine and it will sell like hot cakes".

Boo! I am willing to pay $170 if you give me two heads and bone + metal claws. Or even better - Origins Wolverine plus a bonus of his X-men movie suit or comic yellow/brown suit.

Okay before people start doing this:

Licensing has a lot to do with it. Not to mention that this figure also has:

Newly developed Hot Toys hirsute muscular figure body with over 30 points of articulation

Add the cost of licensing from Marvel Films and 20th Century Fox (which is a different entity than Marvel Studios in charge of Iron Man), add in the cost of the new body and you've got your price hike without batting an eye. I would easily believe that this license is higher than a video game cost or even Terminator. Remember the hike when SSC went from the Buck to the Pro? Same thing. They introduce a new body that is specially made for this figure and they've got to recoup, now if this figure sells and they do other Wolverine figures or even figures that use this body we won't see more of a price hike but if not then the next figure that has this will have a higher cost to offset the loss.

I think it's an "Ok" likeness. But, I don't plan on buying it. I think I'd rather own the Iron Man, Mark 3 instead as a Marvel piece....
