From SSC's perspective, most of the time it's not as if they are reselling "damaged" stuff. Buyers vary greatly in terms of their "pickiness" and a lot of the time, people return stuff for reasons that other buyers might not have even noticed, but SSC has to take the item back.

I've seen people return stuff like a Vader with a "weird swirl" on the dome, which in all honesty may or may not be visible under normal conditions, and for 3/4's of buyers wouldn't be an issue.

So what's SSC supposed to do with an otherwise perfectly good returned Vader that has a flaw that 3/4's of buyers wouldn't even notice?

The bigger issue is - what about the "tweener" figures that have more noticeable flaws and that 3/4's of buyers who wouldn't notice drops to 1/4 (i.e. 3/4's of buyers WOULD notice the issue)? Ultimately, unless the issue is really obvious, I think they just try their luck with nearly everything - if it comes back again, it comes back again.

Bottom line - they make 1/6 figures in 100% resealable packaging for a reason.:lol

SS has absolutely sent out returns. It was proven on at least 2 occasions:

1: a forum member posted pics of a statue showing all the defects as well as the base with the edition number. He returned it and another forum member received the identical statue with the same base and the exact same flaws.

2. a forum member drew a small happy face on the inside styro of his statue before returning it...and another member received the same statue with the same flaws and the happy face styro.

I did acknowledge in my post that SS has had people mention that they received PFs they believed to have been returned by other customers but I haven't heard about it with HT figures. Their statues are the merch that they create and have more of an incentive to get rid of it anyway possible (this is mere speculation). If a Hot Toys product is defective, they can always return it to HT for money or credit back on their account (based on if they operate the same way as most retailers).

Mine converted as well...not sure about this one. I wonder if they got that many returns at once, or had a stock pile they were waiting to release.

I was sent a replacement and it was opened prior to getting me, the head has dents and a complete disaster paint job. I wouldn't care but its completely visible and on the front. When I asked for credit to keep it they said no, so I am sending it back. They are basically sending back the returned ones to everyone else on the waiting list. At this point it is evident they stopped caring.

Surely Sideshow wouldn't resell returned damaged goods. That would be suicide from a company reputation point of view.

An really interested in your comments Shalamar and Quartartec.

They sure do send damaged figures, twice on different occurrences. I am returning the Gold Trooper for good, I hope nobody gets my bad figure.

So the scratches that I see in these pictures this isnt battle damage or weathering
right is supposed to be pristine?

Yes should not be battle damaged at all, Captain Phasma came out perfect. But All of these Gold Troopers are horrific. Here is the replacement they sent me. It was someone else because when I opened the shipper it was double taped and the plastic wasn't there.

I strongly recommend nobody get this also notice ebay is littered with them.

I'll consider myself lucky....grabbed new one from evilbay at a reasonable price....only "issue" being what appears to be a small finger print smudge above the brow. Otherwise, no issues at this time...later eh maybe.

All I need is the copper (chocolate) one and the collection is complete for the minute.

Mine just arrived , factory sealed as I had hoped ( not waitlist) ... Somewhat scared to open :p

Update: Seems Fine , only some light scratches from factory handling nothing out of the ordinary

Mine just arrived, disappointed as I can see a pretty obvious scratch on the helmet straight away. Will have a closer inspection tonight and email SSC of any further findings

It appears that only the helmet has issues, the body has some light factory scratches but I'm not too fussed about those.

Altho the chances are nil, I have sent an email to SSC asking for a replacement head.

Mine just converted. I went through this debacle with the 89 batmobile and i got lucky then. Hopefully this is the same

my order was converted too. i am even doing the flex pay. if i get a defective, i will return it for a full refund. no questions asked. just like i did with my spiderman premiun format ex. i suspect SSC sent out this defective ones to the people that get a conversion.

I cancelled mine two days ago. I didn't want to risk my first Hot Toys figure to be a disappointment.

I'm sure many have seen this already, but you can see the new Rogue One Stormtrooper will be coming from this pic from the Death Trooper release.

Yes, I didn't even pick up on the fact that the out of focus trooper could be a different Stormtrooper for R1. Seems to be a lot more black showing through at knees and under shoulder area.
