I'm also not interested in Slave Leia. The design is just not that interesting a look to me and I'm also in the (most likely) very small minority that is "meh" about the whole Jabba sequence. So the only appeal beyond all that would be the sexiness of it which I'm not particularly interested in either.

Not that interested in the Bespin gown either. Maybe if I found a good deal I would jump on it. I'm very happy with the Hoth figure but would have loved it if they included the Bespin escape hair and shoes.

You raise some really good points. I think the costume has been fetishised over the years and some sections of fandom (and artists as you mentioned) have overly sexualised it. Man, they’ve even sexed up her ANH costume.
I’m sure if Hot Toys were to produce one, it would be a stunning piece, respectful to the design and Carrie’s portrayal. Unlike the knock-off version with the busty “phicen” style body. The Wonder Woman figures are kinda skimpy costume wise, but there’s an elegance and power to the overall figure that elevates it above simple cheese cake.
Anyway, I obviously would love one, especially since I’d found each Leia release to be stunning.

I personally don't have a problem with Hot Toys releasing Slave Leia. I'm just glad that it's not the first version they released of her, like Hasbro did with the Black Series. Carrie Fisher has spoken negatively of this outfit in the past, but she also noted that, in the context of the story, she is forced to wear that demeaning outfit as a slave, and she eventually kills her captor, which is pretty empowering. I imagine that this demeaning outfit is not what Leia (who is royalty and a distinguished politician) would choose for herself. So it's definitely about objectification, both in the story and among the fanboys, which is not something to celebrate.

Those are cartoons. Also - none of those characters were forced to wear those outfit and sexually objectified as part of enslavement. It's not really about how skimpy the outfit is. I'm all for women being able to wear whatever they want, as long as they feel comfortable and not forced to do anything beyond their will. How would you feel if you were forced to wear a speedo and displayed in chains just for the sexual gratification of a legion of perverts?

Calm down. No one wants you getting triggered. My understanding is Disney has said it will not approve Slave Leia merchandise anyways. I think the black series is last we will see of it.

It's so laughable that people who just love their hip-hop videos (which are watched by millions of kids) - with the blatant, in-your-face sexism and objectification - then turn around and get all puritanical over a space bikini.

Yes, fanboys.

Sure, the original licensors are complicit. But it's supply and demand. Lots of men and boys seeing a woman enslaved and forced to wear a metal bikini was a turn on, I guess. But it's kind of messed up, if you think about it. Modern sensibilities have keyed into that and are no longer okay with promoting it, which is fine by me.

That portrait is pure gold - just beautiful. wish someone would've taken the time to futz this figure for display - the puckered waistband would be an easy fix and make the figure present even better.

I just hope this one doesn't go down as another convention tease. Considering that the (really well done) Hoth version is still readily available, this could sit in limbo for awhile. Plus, it's very odd that no ESB (Bespin) Han has been teased or announced. This version of Leia would look awfully lonely on display with no Han or Lando to accompany her...
