People are talking like this is a ways in the future - SS has had a $270 fairly basic figure (Luke Snowspeeder) up for PO on their site for six months. My guess is the first $295 basic figure PO will be early next year, and by end of next year even simple stuff like say a HT Lando will be above $265+ and ALL Sideshow figures in the $275-295 range. Everything giving you $5 to $30 in change out of $300.

Last year's SSC PO's like Luke X and TOD Indy were already well on the way to $250 ($240 and $230,) so this year's will firmly transition from $240 range to $270 range. Their jumps have been around $20-30 per year.

Curious to see how close to $250 Dengar is - not a main character, kinda niche interest, but my guess is they go for the jugular anyway.
I think you guys are sounding the alarm just a bit early. Take SS out of the equation for the moment. Several HT Star Wars figures have been around $200 (Stormtrooper, Finn, Leia, TFA TIE Pilot, TFA Stormtrooper, Yoda). The rest (aside from Vader and Chewie) around $225.

The next figures on the horizon are Snowtrooper, Deathstar Trooper, Death Star gunner, Gonk, Han trooper, Finn trooper, TFA Luke. I don't see most of those being higher than $220. Luke might be $230 or something--Han was high but he had more accessories.

The option of buying new (pre-ordering) is now being challenged by the consistent price drops these take shortly after release. Look at most of the TFA Star Wars figures HT has just put out. Most are still available (with bonus incentives now being offered by SSC to move remaining stock). Almost all of them can be had for sizeable discounts already. Even new, unopened figures! I'd love to have this figure right now, but I'm sure in 6 months time it will be all over the interwebs for much less. Even the exclusives are not holding value after a short time.

Then wait! That's what I do with SS statues, that's what happens when they made a ton of them :) Don't early adopt unless you have too.

I want to wait on this figure, but I get a gut feeling he may move quick. Then again he is effectively the poster child trooper for this film...so I dunno. Regardless I'll wait for RPs to accumulate before considering him.

These Death Troopers are the coolest looking thing in the movie.

If R1 is a really good movie then this guy will sell out for sure.

That's why I'm worried about waiting for this one to come down in price.

Stuff still sells out, and I've been burned with a few.

I'll probably just preorder him and continue to bich and complain about the price [emoji23]

When HT sells out - they just make more. :lol

They just did it with Ben, Han, Chewy, Vader etc. I know they're main characters, but this guy is the most distinctive thing in RO, so I can't imagine this will be a one-and-done.

Panic in Sept 2016 or Sept 2017 - your choice.:lol

I really hope you're right that the Snowie is going to be $220 :)pray:), but I think it'll be closer to this guy's price.

So I guess it comes down to - will the HT Snowie be $70 or $85 more than the SSC Snowie... that three years ago caused a stir when it was priced at a then all-time high for an armored fig at $150.:lol

prices will begin to level out but I think we are in the process of them finding the middle ground of doing a price increase and figuring out where to stop until the next price increase. prices won't go lower at this point as long as they are moving figures.

Can't be paying over $200 especially with the weak pound. Could end up being nearly £300 with import tax.

Get it off ebay from a Hong Kong seller, i did with Rey and they put a $19 worth on the box.A few more will pop up on there soon.Plus you will probably get it long before SS or UK retailers get it.

The rising prices don't bother me much yet as I've already had to pay the $250-300 range for older figures on eBay. I also control my spending by only buying the figures I really want, I'm not a completionist by any stretch. Also, it is a bit cheap for SS to cut out the monthly coupon, something that will ultimately hurt sales. This leads me to think that one day the RP system will go the same way.

I think this is mostly due to HT overestimating the demand for these. I think they thought these would sell as well as the OT counterparts, which they did not. The love for these new characters just isn't there yet.

It's a cool looking figure, but....No more pre-order for new star wars movies for me.
The reason? Captain Phasma!!
"fool me once, shame on you...?" (George W. Bush..):rotfl

I could not disagree more, I love my Phasma, sure she wasn't in much of the movie but her presence on the shelf is outstanding, I don't collect based off of screentime, I collect based off of what either looks really cool on my shelf or if something is very important to me as a symbol of my childhood/love of cinema.....(and it needs to look pretty cool on my shelf too).

You guys need to get together.:lol

I like the look of this guy. I think it'll look ace next to my Vader and boba fett. I think I might wait it out though for the price to hopefully come down. I'm hoping this will do what most of the force awakens troopers have done. They seem pretty cheap on eBay these days

I got this guy for a good price and I'll have him the first week of October. I know that HT prices are getting higher, but I personally think it's worth it.

I'll share a small review when he arrives.

Here's my Troopeedoll all finished :
