I kind of want it, but I've got to draw the line somewhere. I don't even have the room to display what I have now.

Yeah, so three OT stormtroopers and that's basically it. Hard to count Han and Chewie and Ben since they rereleased them. Just seems like multiple troopers, whether exclusive or not just haven't moved due to the over saturation. It's possible with the higher prices come smaller production runs, but tough to say since they don't release that info.

If they just released one trooper they'd probably sell out, but they'll have this guy, the regular death trooper, shore trooper, tank trooper, RO Stormtrooper, RO sandtrooper, and probably some other variant we haven't seen.

What is the difference between this and a "regular" death trooper? What aside from timing then, makes this exclusive special?

JonEl posted pictures a few pages back. This one has the pauldron, pouch, and some other extra gear. The regular maybe has the scope on the side of the helmet though. Hopefully this guy stands out in the flick as the extra gear looks nice.

The figure looks amazing. I'm just annoyed that they nudged the price up yet again.

There's no actors likeness to pay for, or any die cast material, but the price is $235, and likely $250 after shipping is added. I bet in another nine to twelve months the average price will be $300.

I can't complain about Hot Toys pricing when Sideshow is selling 1/4 PFs for $549, when it would have been $299 a few years ago.

It seems like several of the TFA troopers are actually dropping in price (below original retail) maybe now the hype has died down, so it's possible this guy might do the same. He's the first RO trooper, so it's possible he'll sell out, but HT seems to just straight reissue, or reissue with a slight variation, anyway.

I hope so.

The TFA troopers are all identical except for their gear, Hot Toys over saturated the market with them when they really should have only released two, one taller, and one shorter, and divided all the accessories to make any version between the two, and made a large run of each. They would have sold out, and everyone would have been happy.

This is a thing of beauty and I will most likely use my amassed reward points to buy one! The whole Special Forces Stormtroopers thing is very appealing, love the blaster grip in the Secret Base pics.

I also hope we learn very little about these guys in the movie, but that they're implied to be clones.

My fear also mate, it's going to get to the stage where many collectors get pushed out in favor of only the rich.
These figures were $100 a couple of years ago, the profit margins must now be massive, without any thought of the collector buying them.

More then a couple years ago, time is just flying. But yeah i remember those days too. Gone now. Gone the way of the premium formats lol

SSC Snowtrooper was $150, and I received mine almost exactly 3 years ago (mine was under $150 with coupon.) Echo and Fives was an armored TWO-pack for $200 that shipped only about 2 1/2 years ago.

Yeah, the days of new armored single figures for $100 is many years ago, but the $130-150 range IS only a couple of years ago.

We'll never see another figure from Sideshow or HT for less $200 - unfortunately we're on a very fast march to $300 basic figures. That level will be pretty much here by end of next year.

$300 is just too much for a toy. If they ever reach that price on daily basic it will be end for my collecting hobby.

His sniper plate bothers me, is it supposed to be a kick stand or something? It just looks like it would break off if kneeled on. Actually, it would probably just jam the whole thigh armor into his groin.

You and A LOT of others. It's likely to kill the hobby. There are plenty of wealthy collectors, but they are a minority, and thus do not pay the majority of Hot Toys and Sideshows bills.

Yeah that thing is kinda weird. Not sure what they'll do with it, but at this point, it seems like over design.

People are talking like this is a ways in the future - SS has had a $270 fairly basic figure (Luke Snowspeeder) up for PO on their site for six months. My guess is the first $295 basic figure PO will be early next year, and by end of next year even simple stuff like say a HT Lando will be above $265+ and ALL Sideshow figures in the $275-295 range. Everything giving you $5 to $30 in change out of $300.

Last year's SSC PO's like Luke X and TOD Indy were already well on the way to $250 ($240 and $230,) so this year's will firmly transition from $240 range to $270 range. Their jumps have been around $20-30 per year.

Curious to see how close to $250 Dengar is - not a main character, kinda niche interest, but my guess is they go for the jugular anyway.

If if you don't like it don't buy.. Not being mean just realistic. That's what I finally had to do. Used to be I'd order a lot I would always have at least 5 figures on order ,sometimes more up to nine. NOWADYAS ...... I have nothing on order and don't know when I'll be ordering something. I miss getting a figure every month but at the same time other things need priority than Dollies. The prices are ridiculous and now that it would seem like even the $20 " gift " ( coupon code) from SSC has gone the way of the dinosaur purchases are going to be even farther and fewer in between.
