There are 4 versions released or to be released (so far):

1. First Avenger (official movie costume)
2. Recue Cap (leather jacket, triangular shield, "A" helmet).
3. Golden Age Cap (USO show outfit, most like the comic but w/ triangular shield)
4. Avengers Cap

#1 and 2 are out. #1 is immediately identifiable as Cap. Outfit restricts articulation, esp in arms. Still a very solid figure. #2 is a technical improvement in many ways, but lacks the traditional look and shield if that matters.

#3 is a bit goofy with a more classic, head to toe spandex costume. Official specs aren't out yet.

#4 is the modernized uniform. Two shields (both circular, one damaged one fresh) and two head sculpts (w and wout mask). Has a Chitauri weapon as a bonus but not sure what use it is.

Of course, Cap 2 comes out next year so we may yet see a fifth figure.

So right now the questions I have for you are:
1. Do you prefer something closer to the classic look?
2. Woud you rather masked or unmasked?
3. Do you need it now or can you wait?
4. Do you prefer WW2 or modern look?

Good breakdown.

Captain landed this morning from Hong Kong.

I'm very impressed. Great figure. One of the little leather closure straps on his belt has come away, but a tiny spot of glue will fix that no problem.

Here's the dilemma....

ATM my shield thankfully is perfect. No chips, no flakes, looks stunning. But I'm afraid to touch it!
I've left it in the box, but Cap NEEDS his shield!

I've. Bought a can of clear car lacquer. I'm trying to decide wether I should spray the shield with this to seal it or if it might react badly and ruin what is currently a perfect shield?

Has anyone tried lacquering the shield? If so, what sort of results did you get?

Looks the dogs nuts though!

LOL! Damn. And that was going to be the next thing I did!!

Love the fact that the instructions actually tell you "Do not scratch shield with sharp object, otherwise, it may cause damages or paint fading"

Like duh.

Apologies if this is an old question. If I were to buy just the Rescue head on eBay, is that head compatible with the original's neck piece? Would I be able to just pop the new head on?

Thank you!

The Rescue head on this body works best IMO -

One more time: DANGER WILL ROBINSON

Clearcoats are NOTORIOUSLY fickle. Things get especially nasty when you try to mix lacquer and water-based stuff. I think lacquer can go on top of waterbased but not the other way around.... But DO NOT ACT ON MY SUPPOSITION. Not to mention we dont know if that clearcoat on the shield is lacquer or waterbased...! Its one thing if you did the painting yourself and you know for sure.

Do some research, and be good with the idea that whatever you do might end up ruining the finish. Sometimes all it takes is two products from different companies! They're not made to work together and you end up with a disaster.

"If it aint broke yet, dont fix it." One of my mottos.
