Still Daniel Day Lewis as Bill The Butcher

One that's always stood out to me is Anthony Perkins in Psycho. That was a performance way ahead of it's time. The scene in the parlor with Janet Leigh is just brilliant.

Might be Viggo Mortenson in A History of Violence. Runners up are James Garner in the Americanization of Emily, Toshiro Mifune in Rashomon, and Optimus Prime in Transformers: the Movie (1986).
