Re: GI JOE 25th Anniversary

Damn, what year was that from? I think that Cobra Wolf was the last vehicle that I got as a kid.

EDIT: Pictures are from two different years, right?

In the bottom picture, I see the Joe HQ and what looks to be Airborne in the top lefthand peg, which would have preceded the top pic by five years or so.

Unless this was some G.I. Joe Mecca / Haven that had a stockpile of toys from multiple years.

C'mon Now! GI JOE HQ, Dragonfly, Skystriker, APC, MOBAT . . . . . . BOTTOM PIC FOR THE WIN!!!!!!:hi5:

Re: GI JOE 25th Anniversary

Yeah, I can make out Duke in the top pegs, Storm Shadow in the middle, and Destro on the bottom. No Trip Wire for me, though...but I'm not going to stare and strain my eyes! :lol

That's my TRU here in Idaho. Out of our population of 400, I'm the only one here that buys that stuff but I'm broke so it's just sitting there! Damn HT's! :wink1:

Truthfully I don't know, a buddy of mine that collects 3 3/4 sent it to me. Pretty awesome, I don't think I would ever leave. :lol

Jesus!!!!! THAT makes me wanna cry!!!! :monkey2

:exactly: The rows and rows of stuff just blows my mind. I was in a store once like this while visiting Des Moines, IA. I think it was called Toy Castle or something like that. I bought my Whale there and built it in the hotel room between visits with my Grandmother. I just couldn't believe my eyes when we walked in. I'd never seen so many toys in my life.

Yeah and Flosi see I told you it was easier to find Joe's here! :lol

Oh yeah

I should add that in the Vintage Collectibles thread I added 2 more pics to these Joe ones if anyone wants to see more. They are of MOTU and Transformers.

I would too, :lol blows me away, 4 facings of Skystriker's! :cuckoo:

I was ever only lucky to find one in a kids backyard sandbox here. :lol

I just keep staring at these pics...amazing.

Re: GI JOE 25th Anniversary

Yeah, that's bigger than the current Joe, SW, TFs, and superhero figure sections all wrapped into one.

For the Joes, the TRUs here literally have a space about 1ft wide and run vertical, Target's even more pathetic with a single vertical row of pegs and they don't exist at my WalMarts. :monkey2:monkey2:monkey2

Re: GI JOE 25th Anniversary

There's nothing like that in today's TRU. :banghead

Oh god no. There wasn't anything there like this even 17 years ago. I was working at our TRU and I took care of aisles, 2C to 8C (Hot Wheels to the summer movie toys and clearance). 7C was where we kept the action figures and when I started Power Rangers was the most popular. :slap

Luckily, SW Power of the Force debuted about a year later so it got a little better. Never as good as these pics though...and still not now. My TRU a lot of the time barely has figures on the pegs. :monkey2

Same here.

I went to Target yesterday and I could tell as I turned into the isle that the GI Joe pegs were full. :yess:............ with yet another case of the figures from last year.... More frosty Destros. :slap the odds of 2011 series 1 ever hitting the shelves here are becoming slim.

Re: GI JOE 25th Anniversary

I loathe all brick & mortar toy stores now. Which is good, since there aren't any by me within a 4 hr driving distance, but still, it's depressing. Even the Wal-Marts and Targets don't focus worth a damn on their toys. :(

But to be brutally honest, I don't think kids do either. They seem to jump straight from toddler toys to LeapFrogs, Iphones and Nintendo DS's. So I think that's the reason stores focus less and less on toys because it seems adults buy them more than kids.

Imagination is becoming more and more of a "no go" in my opinion with the newer generations.

Re: GI JOE 25th Anniversary

Sad but true, Trance. :(

So I just hit up Wal-Mart at lunch.... They stocked some of the new stuff but all that was left was Destro with Gatling gun (and a very cool brief case filled with euros and dollars) and a halo trooper I had no interest in. :(

Re: GI JOE 25th Anniversary

I actually looked for WWH for Nam this weekend.

I saw a few SE's but I have no clue what everyone is looking for :dunno on those. :huh
