If fresh breaches are occurring over the course of a few days I wonder are they even aware of whats going on.

Did a google for forbiddenplanet.co.uk credit card scams and found a few links saying that FP were aware of the problem and advising people not to make new CC orders.

This is going to severely damage their reputation now. Whatever was left. If the trust is not already blown.

Almost every incident can be partly traced to Forbidden Planet International – that’s the .co.uk website – and it seems an odd coincidence that this is the case. However, so far, no official word has come from FP International. In recent days, however, it seems some payments through the .com website have had problems as well. What is more worrying is that fraud is hitting people who ordered as much as two years ago from these companies.

Maybe it is an employee problem. Has anyone actually reported the site or emailed forbidden planet to say that they have a problem? If fresh breaches are occurring over the course of a few days I wonder are they even aware of whats going on.

I emailed forbidden planet the same day my bank called me to tell me my card was used by an unauthorised person.
I said that I believed my card was exposed from thier database or some one sold my details. Also to cancel any orders as I no longer want to use them. I got a mail back that said "OK we'll cancel your orders and take your details off our database".
No more was said.

I actually had this problem a few weeks back but didn't link it to FP at the time, someone tried to steal about a £1000 in several transactions on my account. I'm going to contact them to demand a removal of all my details & will never be using them again, (they never have stock anyway!). Have already changed my card.

Should this not be reported to Trade & Standards? If it hasn't already.

I have been using the online store 'Amazing comics' for awhile even when it merged with and became 'Corner Store Comics'. I have a few preorders from them still.

I got an email saying they found out their site was hacked and some records may have been stolen. So they did the right thing and sent an email to everyone in their customer list.

A few days later someone tried to sign up for AARP and itunes. I think they even got Proactive acne cream with it. I called and got those taken off and got a new card.

It happens, sites get hacked.

I thought it had to be that site! Couple weeks ago I got a call from my card company saying there was a $1.01 charge that looked off. I told them I hadn't made it. They issued me a new card.

Forbidden Planet, by the way, took forever to process my order, 80% of what they claimed to be in stock wasn't -- which was why I ordered from them in the first place -- and they overcharged me. Bloody amateurs.

These bastards tried to use my wifes CC yesterday. Thankfully the bank froze the CC as it looked suspicious. The strange thing though is that I changed the account details on the FP.co.uk website to my CC and deleted my wife’s CC details yet it seems that the site still kept a record of it.

Oh good. I have no current orders but if that is indeed word from the horses mouth I'll keep fp.com as a future option.

Never had any troubles with Forbiddenplanet.co.uk, but who knows, we all could become victims, including me. Still I ain't gonna start slandering the site, since my experience has been so far only positive and these hack things intend to happend at times to different sites. The site itself is far from perfect, like you cannot know for sure if there's items in stock and if the items arrive within 2 or 4 weeks, but that's why I'm constantly involved with the customer service, one of the nicest I have seen and responds quickly. Overall I have saved lots of money, because some of their superb deals. I will continue to order from them in the future and if there's a card fraud I'll get a new card.

I have very similar views to Hamill82.

I have bought from FPI for many years, as they have been the only companmy able to reliably and affordably stock Cinemaquettes in this Country. Without FPI I would not have the collection that I have.

People need to keep some perspective in all of this when they are running down FPI's reputation. It's not so bad here, though I have seen it be very ugly elsewhere. Yes, any unauthorised financial activity on an account is an inconvenience, and a total pain. It has happened to me on several occasions in the past. But I accept that there is an inherent risk involved with any transaction or movement online. I also realise that I will be reimbursed any money lost as a consequence of my card details being stolen. I certainly wouldn't write a company off just because of this. Anytime this happens the company will be hating it just as much as the customers that's for sure. And you can be totally sure that any company caught up in this won't be taking it lightly.

What is important is for people to get their money back quickly from their CC company, and FPI to work with the necessary people to determine the nature of the problem, and also to take remedial action to prevent its occurrence in the future.

I personally will continue to buy from them with confidence.

My sympathy to anyone that's been scammed, and I'm not saying that the FP website is necessarily the best thing since sliced bread, but I do think we would all be better off with FP, than we would without them... so let's not make it our mandate to thrash their name. Just my humble opinion. :monkey3:monkey3

I have used FP.co.uk many times. Great people to deal with. I hope this gets sorted.

I'm the owner of FPI and wanted to take some time to reply to your issues. There have been some problems with credit cards in the past few weeks. This is currently under investigation both by ourselves and external agencies.
We have been told that our online system is working as it should and that the problem lies elsewhere. Due to the circumstances we have been asked not to discuss anything in detail until the case is concluded. I realize that this is distressing for our Customers: as it is for us. I trust that you can show us patience until everything has been resolved. For any of you who feel let down, I apologise wholeheartedly and unreservedly. As you know, FPI has put the Collector first for many years, and will continue to do so. Dr Who Fans are aware that we are taking steps to continue many figure lines, for instance, which might otherwise have ended.
We need your support on projects like this, and we hope that we will have it in future. Our Customer Services will hopefully be able to answer all your questions regarding orders, so please continue to direct them to

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention.
We will liaise with our card service provider to investigate this matter. In the meantime, please contact your card issuer, tell them that it looks as if your card has been compromised. They will cancel the card, re-credit any fraudulent transactions, and issue you with a new card.
Regarding orders fullfilment: To ease confusion we wanted to clarify that we do not cancel orders unless we are directly instructed by the customer. In the course of every day business we deal with many payment problems, lost cards, outdated cards, stolen cards, bounced cheques, expired cheques, short payments and more. Our policy has always been to contact the customer to ask if they would like to provide another means of payment and not just to cancel orders without consultation. If you have goods on order with us your order is safely held chronologically (first placed first served) - if you ordered product you will get it with the exception of occasional allocations. About 40-50 people so far have come forward (and it can be presumed that many probably haven’t realised or posted on the internet yet) and said that, since late March to April, strange payments have been appearing on their credit cards.
This could be a couple of pennies or pounds, known as ‘tester amounts’ up to larger payments. Many of these have been associated with mobile phone companies, most commonly O2, even if the people receiving the bills have no connection to the companies.
Almost every incident can be partly traced to Forbidden Planet International – that’s the .co.uk website – and it seems an odd coincidence that this is the case. However, so far, no official word has come from FP International. In recent days, however, it seems some payments through the .com website have had problems as well. UPDATE: It is safe to order from the .com website What is more worrying is that fraud is hitting people who ordered as much as two years ago from these companies.
Therefore the best advice is to stay away from these sites, especially if you have a new card, until the problem is cleared, you can check here and I’ll let you know as soon as it is, and if you have bought anything (such as the exclusives…) just go through your bills meticulously and make sure absolutely nothing gets through. If it does contact your bank immediately. UPDATE: We recommend using cheque. See elsewhere on the FPI Fraud Page for more.

I've never used FP.com (yet) and I haven't used FP.co.uk for quite a while, but when I did I dealt with Kenny Penman on many occaisions, he's a realy great guy and I always found him and the team very helpful.
Reading between the lines this looks like a case of an individual intercepting details... I coud be wrong but I had something similar happen with a major hight street supermarket chain here in the UK. I wasn't allowed to talk about it till the police had carried out a full investigation. It turned out to be a scam being run by two employees. The supermarket was pretty embarressed and their chief of security kept me informed as to what was happening.

The way I look at it is, there are so few places here in the UK dealing in this kind of specialist stuff we NEED companies like this to keep going.

I'm sure it will all get sorted, but I know from experience how hugely freaking nauseating it all is, but if you work with the investigation you should get everything back, then you can try pushing for 'compensation', even if it's only 25% off vouchers, it all helps.

The last nail in the coffin for what was a very badly run online company imho

I am with you on this. I have now cancelled all my pre-orders. It's not just the credit card problem (four cards compromised this year of which two were only ever used with them) but if you also consider the slow delivery, consistent advertising of out of stock items, failure to notify of dispatch of goods, and lack of updates to your account then it is hard to come to any other conclusion that this company has a shambolic business model.

I would love to support UK based collectibles companies but they really need to up their game to match the suppliers I have used in the USA.

I have transferred as many of my pre-orders to FP.COM and Incognito Comics as possible as they seem to get positive feedback but I would rather pay import duties and taxes and a little more in cost for excellent customer service than deal with this company again.
