Re: English Premier League EPL - 2010-2011 Season

Nani scored a good goal but other than that it's been drab, the lack of creativity from the midfield is a far bigger problem than Rooney's impending exit as without Giggs & Scholes there's nobody reliable to make killer passes.

One banner in the crowd reads,

"Coleen may forgive you.....but we won't"

:lol:lol I'd imagine not.

We took one back. I'm at work and won't be able to see it till later but apparently it was a classy goal by Bale beating Maicon down the flank and tucking the ball in the corner past Julio Ceasar... At least from what I'm reading. :(

Still, pulling one back is a good thing.

It's something of learning curve for Spurs, the first few times United played in the Champions League they took a few hammerings including a 4-0 against Barcelona in the Nou Camp so if they can keep qualifying they'll improve over time.

EDIT 4-3...........unlucky in the end and a great hat trick from Bale.

Re: English Premier League EPL - 2010-2011 Season

My mate told me Gomes deserved to be sent off. Sounded a bit like desperation after conceding a goal 2 min in. A bit of a shame as we might have been able to get at least a point otherwise.

I'm sure their nerves were shaky from the start. Like you said with the Nou Camp reference, going to the San Siro and playing the holders has a much different feel than playing Twente or Bremen. You go to the San Siro and you know you're in the Champions League... Still, nice bit of resilience from them... I really wish Bale would slow down a bit though. I can almost hear Real Madrid knocking already. :(

Re: English Premier League EPL - 2010-2011 Season

Good comeback, shame they went a man down so early, things could've been alot different.

Re: English Premier League EPL - 2010-2011 Season

Twente and Bremen both drew so if we can carry some momentum into next weeks game maybe we can get closer to advancing?

How many games do you miss for a straight red in the CL? 3?

Having seen his goals I reckon Bale would make a nice replacement for Giggs but Spurs would probably price him out of United's reach and I doubt they'd want Carrick back as a deposit :lol

United won but were largely crap and the only bright spark seems to be Nani's increased contribution to the team........he's still nowhere near Ronaldo at his best but if he could increase the consistency of his crossing as well as drop the theatricals every time he's tackled he'd become a really good player instead of one that always seems to underachieve.

You could have had him a couple of years back. Jol told him he would get first team football with us so he came to London. You're right on both accounts though, he would have made an ideal replacement for Giggs and you probably can't afford him now. (or so I hope :D, I do hate losing players to Utd.... The Berbatov and Carrick sales both hurt us on the field in the short term)

Nani must frustrate the hell out of you. I've seen some brilliant performances from him and some where he just disappears.

respectable 1-1 draw with Valencia tonight but we missed so many chances, could've been 4-1

The way things are Bale would be more likely to go to Real Madrid or City, agents always tell their players to go where the money is so they can get a nice cut for themselves and despite still being a merchandising juggernaught United are skint.

Nani is one of those players that clearly has all the ability but not the consistency. He's improved a lot since January but his crossing is still very hit & miss and he's one of the worst corner takers I've ever seen.

When he's good, he's very good but it's not often enough.

Read a funny joke last night,

Colleen Rooney heard her husband had paid £1200 for a 20 year old escort and the first thing she said was "I hope it's had an MOT" :lol

Re: English Premier League EPL - 2010-2011 Season

How did I miss this thread? Anyway, Man United supporter here. On the subject of Gareth Bale, seeing him in a Manchester United jersey would please me very much, but in all reality, if he were to leave Tottenham at all, he'd probably go to Man City. He would be the perfect replacement for Giggsy, though.

Re: English Premier League EPL - 2010-2011 Season

Looks like Jose Mourinho was right all along as Rooney has now signed a new contract. Which begs the following questions,

1.Did SAF lay down the law to the owners regarding transfer funds to placate Rooney's alleged claims about the club's lack of ambition?

I would have loved to been a fly on the wall at that meeting.

2.Was it a ploy by Rooney's agent to get his player more money?

If so it appears to have worked.

Whatever else happens one thing is certain, he's got to start playing well pretty damn quick if he's going to win the fans over again and probably his fellow players as well.
