l apparently have some native in me as well, at least that is what my mom says. l am half French and half Ukrainian. One of my dads brothers (french side) got his metis card, and boy does abuses it. He gets to keep as many fish as he wants, go hunting almost anytime of the year and gets a big discount on bullets.

Well if you are a Native from a reserve or what ever good that you did something. Where l am there are lots of reserves about 100-200kms away. All they do is drink and get into trouble, while they collect their money from the government. they come into town and get into trouble. some of the reserves are like the ghetto, they won't make anything of themselves if they stay there.

A bit generalized, but I don't disagree to some degree. That said, there are those that don't squat, preferring to better themselves then constantly dwell in the oppression of the past. I think a lot can be learned from them.

The Native actor Adam Beach who was in "Wind Talkers" and Flags Of Our Fathers" was from a reserve in the next province from me. He said he was doing lots of drugs and getting in trouble/arrested, he saw that he was going to be know one if he stayed there. So he moved and started acting. Now there is a proud Native.
