any news on the new patch ?

not going to play till new patch.

Bethesda forum indicates its done and in the hands of MS - and say it should be released 'this week'

Tomorrow is Wed, so we'll see.

Side note: how many more of these side quests for the thieves guild do I need to do before I can close that part of the game down? Guide says 5 per city to unlock on of the 'final' types, but feels like I've done way over 10 and done one of those......

I'm wondering the same thing. I counted, and I have done 53 side quests for the thieves guild and still I have not brought them to their full glory. There have been 3 cities where I had a special quest where at the end the person said they would support the thieves' guild in that area...but I have not gotten them yet for all the cities. Rather frustrating. Every time I play, I'll do 6+ quests but nada.

Skyrim to have multiple DLC releases, powerful buckets
Posted Dec 11th 2011 3:30PM by Mike Schramm

Game Director Todd Howard was at the Spike Video Game Awards yesterday to accept a well-deserved Game of the Year award for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and he said to Joystiq that the game's popularity has surprised even the development team. "We thought it would do well," he said, "but it has gone above and beyond." One of the surprising effects of that popularity is the many YouTube videos (and "arrow in the knee" references) out there, but Howard says one in particular stood out to Bethesda. "I think our favorite really is putting the buckets on the heads," he laughed. "It was like day two, and we went, what? Do we fix that? Our lead programmer is pissed and wants to fix it, and I said I'm not sure we should. That's one of those where maybe we leave it in."

Howard couldn't yet share plans for DLC, but he says it will be focused on "ways to make the game better, not just have more, because the game is so big. So we're going through ideas right now, and processing everything people are doing in the game, and trying to think of ways that we can improve it." There will be multiple releases (as with Bethesda's past games), but Howard says they "don't have a timetable. They won't be quick, and they'll have a lot of meat on them."

For all of its successes, the one thing Skyrim doesn't have is other players. Is there a chance we'll ever see a multiplayer title, or even an MMO, from Howard and his company? "You can never say never to anything like that," he admitted, "but it's not what our focus is. This type of game is where our hearts are, what we get excited about, and that's what we want to focus on. We don't want to lose that focus and we never want to sacrifice anything in the singleplayer game just to have it be multiplayer."

That's a first. A gamer complaining about too much content hehe.

I finally got the achievement....must have done 35 side missions from Vex and the other guy - forget his name - irritating cause they are all the same.

I disagree cause those missions are artificial lengthing type missions.....5 per city of the same mission type = lame. For such a large game, no need to make it last longer than it needs to....never want to set foot in the thieves guild again...lol

What are some viable theif builds apart from the standard archery, one-hand style? Although my main character is already a sneak, 1h, light armor, archery guy and it makes most sense to add theifing to his skills, he really isn't a "thief" character. Hence I'm thinking of making a side character where I do all the "bad" things to innocent people.

Is conjuration / alteration thief viable at all in the higher levels? Also don't want to go destruction because I have another side character that is the traditional mage.

There are 24 missions to the theives guild to get the glory acheivement. 5 in each city excluding Riften, doing mission there won't go towards the achievement. then when you finish 5 in a city you do the big one. That is what l read any way. haven't got the achievement, l started some of those side missions, but got boring fast.

Yeah, they got boring quick....now that I've completed them though, the game is moving at mach speed - finished the Pale (Imperial v Stormcloak) Missions, and joined the Brotherhood - saving the Main mission, Act 3 for after the side mission stuff is done.....

General stability improvements
Optimize performance for Core 2 Duo CPUs (PC)
Fixed Radiant Story incorrectly filling certain roles
Fixed magic resistances not calculating properly
Fixed issue with placing books on bookshelves inside player purchased homes
Fixed dragon animation issues with saving and loading
Fixed Y-look input to scale correctly with framerate

YES! :lol I hated that with a passion :lol

Haha I guess it didn't bug me that much because I'd just use that opportunity to check my phone and answer some texts :lol

But for those that had to suffer through it every time...I can only imagine the pain :lol
