I think it is sour grapes more than anything.

Those who were part of the exclusive club who owned an anh vader from the Rick baker mold just got a little upset that any Tom d!ck or Harry and their newbie collector cousin now has a chance to own a vader helmet from the same mold thanks to efx.

The exclusive club just lost some of its exclusivity.

I'm not including Gino in that. First off, he's not part of the "clique". In fact, he's considered an outsider among them. And he was personally heavily involved in bringing the first and only official ANH helmet replica to market. Like it or not, he now has credibility and pedigree that his detractors will likely never have.

Also, my problem with this group of vocal clowns isn't that they "thrive for perfection". In fact, I believe that motivation is secondary (at best) to their desire to be known as THE EXPERTS. It's all about them.

That is the kind of stuff that often sours this hobby.

Eh. Theirs still have fan quality paint jobs instead of those done by people who probably say "Darth who?" I've seen some, mine included, that have minor paint defects. Here's a photo showing so (see lower right):

So, they'll always have their own level of perfection vs mass-produced. I could send that back I guess, if it's worth it, for an exchange. And, I might get lucky and get a perfect one. But, it seems more often you're just trading one problem for another when exchanging for perfection. So, perhaps the pursuit of it, is best left to the people on the prop forums who want to be experts.

Coincidentally, this is my bucket in it's current home. Perhaps another photo will get the thread back on track.

Yeah, that has a lot to do with it, too. These people couldn't wait to rip the eFX helmet apart for that reason alone.

That could be too. But it was to happen one day or another that the ILM molds were "found" by a company and pulls were made from them, so it was to be expected sooner or later. And even then the so much blamed Vader specialists are not the only ones to shared this idea of exclusivity and very limited edition ownership of something...

The ultimate SW collectible will remain the ones from the ILM archives or the ones sold by ILM on various official auctions. Those are the real thing, and few persons have them. Of course that is another league unfortunately for most of us. Everything else is a copy, a good one or a bad one, but still a copy.

And in the end when talking about the work of a talented painter compared to the factory painter then there is another story. Just look for example at Silent-Surfer works on various statues and figures compared to the factory painting.

Sorry to hear that. My Legend Vader is pretty much perfect. In fact, I put it next to my friend's SL last night and it looks just as custom and as if Vader stepped right off the screen.

You were supposed to say "That's nothing. Most of these will probably have some level of problem to them. I would never have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out." :pfft:

I really have no idea what's supposed to be messed up looking and what isn't but I'm pretty sure two spots on my dome are messed up. Overall it's a really cool piece though.

I do get the full picture and don't need your advise, thank you. I also read the member replies to your puerile post on RPF (start reading on from #355). Maybe indeed no one is as bad as we may think but unfortunately some do act like that. :peace As for trying to help international members (NOT JUST ME) get the Legend I thank you for that, but there were others helping international members getting them too, so you are not alone doing benevolent acts - maybe it was your interest as an international member too, who knows...

I understand your frustration cause you dont get the Legend yet even with the "help of your international members friends". Too bad. I feel sorry for you, but it seems you have a personal problem with me...Why???... am i attacking you in that "puerile post" as you call it??? the answer is NO. Really, what is your problem???...Funny because you were crying on every existing forum about your cancelation on the Legend because of the expensive shipping quote to your country. I offered you my "benevolent" help ( even economic ), and suddenly, from nowhere, you came here like a little gossip girl to "exposed" me because of my PERSONAL OPINION in another forum???...(a personal opinion that had nothing to do with you by the way, that is why you still dont get the hole picture. You are not that smart, you just replay like a parrot all that your "Vader experts friends" are saying).

Even is so funny to read your post about the people who have a "problem" because they spend his "entire life dedicated to the C scar" (post 1799)...of course, someone who have 8,456 post in one forum, (and a good piece of them are about "the smaller bases eFx promised to make" and "expensive shipping from eFx" ) is a "standar" for any NORMAL guy,... right???...Im lowered to your level because you need to understand my advise: STAY AWAY. Simple. Go away to bash someone else.

Now back on topic. Im still waiting for news on the eFX and fedEX problem. I cant wait to see my Legend, but no news about the last international orders....¡¡¡¡¡:monkey2 my only hope is wait and get low edition number as a premium for the wait...perhaps Legend # 77???..:rotfl

of course not,..I just caught u,,...so let me refresh your memory,...something u posted in another forum,..and i've seen in other forums too,..

,...and now Charles Vader says u wanted him to help u to get an eFX Vader legend,.,..and u have many vader items in your collection,..yet u say you are not a vader collector,.. :lol:lol:lol
so yeah,..u don't want to lower your high self but u forget what u write,...:wave

Your logic is flawless, too bad it is not matched by your orthography. LOL Orthography is not your enemy, you know... but I guess that is a part of your education (or lack of) - though this type of bad orthography I've seen before on a female member on this forum too - another charming troll. ;)

Thus let's help you understand the text below, since you brought it into discussion:

But those are HARD to find, still well worth the trouble. Glad I'm not a Vader collector because I would have to had one.

In this message I was talking only about THE OTHER helmets and not the eFX version. Is it clear now or do I need to draw you a map too? I guess your "many" posts on that forum (and a couple others where you are member too) are made only to stalk some people and not to show a bit of intelligence... But of course there is time for anyone to improve their skills, just start reading some real books, you know, those with lots of text and no pictures inside.

I do have Vader collectibles (like so many other collectors everywhere), but my focus is not Vader, like for example demorathis or other Vader focused members. And since I'm a such a nice guy I'm going to explain slooooowly, for you to understand this as well: My focus are Original Trilogy Imperials and Troopers. I would have liked to see more trooper collectibles, but unfortunately for each Stormtrooper item most companies release 3-4 Vaders and 2 Fetts or even more. So I got all the OT Trooper collectibles I could buy, and unfortunately there are not many more. Comprende? Please do not hesitate to let me know if this was too fast for you, I'll gladly repeat and even translate it into a language you understand.

Since you think you know so much about me LOL, I would kindly advise you to (re)read the specific thread where I asked Charles to help me, and you might understand what really was going on. Let's explain that too shall we? I never asked him for anything, he offered to help, but so did 6 of my friends there, some by posting directly on the forum and some by PM. But unfortunately, as proven already, you cannot read to well (neither write), so I'm sure that you again will find some irrelevant and unimportant things to bring up here to prove your whatever conspiracy Vader theory. Get a life boy! :)

First and to be clear on this: the fact that I have a number of posts on a forum is simply not your business. It is not you paying for my bills, neither to count my time spent in front of a computer - maybe it is my everyday job and have enough time to do that too. As for your help on that forum, I didn't ask for it, neither did I wanted to be offered by you, and there were at least 6 friends who offered as well to help a couple of years ago when you were not even a member anywhere - check out older posts. And they asked for nothing in return, nor praised with what they did like you here.

I have my personal opinions as well, but I guess every time someone doesn't agree with the majority, it has to be the bad guy like you said in another post here. So it seems you don't like that either. Your post on RPF proved how well you know the "hole" picture. You managed to piss off people there who don't have anything to do with the blamed Vader experts, but still know better than you on so many levels.

quote Vaderdarth on RPF (again):

"Here's some advice for everyone: If a guy doesn't share your opinion about a prop, instead of instantly hating him, try to learn what he's seeing that is bothering him and figure out why he's seeing it. It's guaranteed to sharpen your eye for these little details. It might even help you figure out how to fix your own helmet and make it what you want it to be. Sometimes that's half the fun."

Thanks for the insights anyway, it was a fun ride. :wink1:
End of story.

and back to topic,.... this is the best Vader helmet ever!!,...
there's any way to sit the helmet higher in the stand??? guess u could add some height to it by adding something on the round end??,,
i really like the base,..makes easier to fit an acrylic or glass cover on top of it,..

I'm certainly no Vader expert, but all the in hand pics I've seen of this, it just looks right. And I mean in every pic. There's none of that "at this angle" crap. Cant wait to get mine.
