My favorite Blu Ray I own. It's just perfect looking.
I watched this for the first time recently and whilst I wasn't blown away I did enjoy it as it was a definite departure from the usual "aliens arrive on Earth and attack" scenario.
Are there plans for any kind of follow up or prequel?

You would think so with the way they ended it.
There has been talk of a sequel and Blomkamp has even mentioned he would be interested in a prequel so we'll just have to wait and see.
I'd be interested as long as the standard is at least the equal of District 9 and not something that is going to put a bit of a mark on both films as a series.

It's up to you how it ended. Did CJ come back, save Wikus, and all his comrads? Or did he come back and wipe out the human race? We dont know. I love CJ's moment right as he's flying away. So emotional.

I actually would prefer no sequal/prequal (I don't know about the studios though); it is just too refreshingly original and a second film would only take away some of that. Plus, I like leaving things open-ended like that.

It's not too often that we even have that opportunity anymore. If a film does well we are assured to see some kind of forced sequel.

I think they signed the director on a different project so if they do do a sequel it won't be until after then, probably a few years at the earliest.
Neither District 9 nor Avatar should have a sequel, IMO. I like that we're left to imagine what becomes of the two heroes in their alien bodies.

No D9 should have a sequal becuase i wanna know what happens to wikus and the whole prawn thing. Avatar on the other hand i'm shakey about becuase i dont know what they can do with it or what the story would be like, but im sure cameron can think of somthing.
Not a sequel by any means but a return of the Wikus character and funny!

Grats to Mr. Blomkamp for being name one of TIME's 100 "Most Influential People" (along with Bigelow and Cameron); his write-up was done by none other than Ridley Scott too - of course no stranger to cutting-edge sci-fi.
