A motorist with his wife and baby daughter in his SUV was terrorized, chased down and assaulted by a gang of several dozen motorcyclists in a harrowing incident that began on the West Side Highway Sunday, police sources said.

The bikers were speeding and driving erratically in the northbound lanes when the 33-year-old Manhattan man called 911 to report them about 1:30 p.m.

The bikers then surrounded the man’s dark-colored Range Rover while it was heading north near 125th Street in Harlem, according to video captured by a camera apparently attached to a biker’s helmet.

One biker then pulled directly in front and slowed down, forcing the SUV to stop, and the others converged on the Range Rover, laying their bikes down on the pavement to block the vehicle.

The panicked dad then gunned the engine and ran over several bikes before speeding off with the pack in hot pursuit, police sources said Monday.

“He feared for his life and the lives of his wife and daughter,” a police source said.

The harrowing chase continued more than 50 blocks north, according to the 6-plus minute video, which quickly went viral on YouTube and elsewhere Monday morning.

At one point, the bikers blocked him again as he got caught behind another vehicle, with one biker yanking open his door.

But the driver guns it again and manages to get away after knocking another bike to the ground.

During one of the stops, one of the bikers slashed one or more tires on the SUV, forcing the driver to exit at West 178th Street in Washington Heights.

But the pack swarmed behind him, blowing through at least one red light at high speed.

Finally, traffic forces the SUV to stop on West 178th between Wadsworth and St. Nicholas avenues.

One rider then rips off his helmet and uses it to bash in the driver’s side window as the video ends.

The crew then beat the man in front of his wife and child, police sources said.

The victim was rushed to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital with two black eyes, and also needed stitches on his face and chest.

No arrests have been made and police are investigating the assault, including checking video from a nearby gas station where the bikers gathered after the assault.

At least one of the riders’ jacket patches indicate he’s a member of a New Rochelle motorcycle club.

Sources said it was not an organized charity ride, but a rally loosely organized on the blog HollywoodStuntz, which features videos of bikers doing tricks and stunts.

Wow real tough guys. Had that been me in the RR there'd be about 10 dead bikers.

Oh Voorhees, you're such a tough guy yourself. Say that behind a computer.. but even if you did, look what happened to that guy. I doubt you would have faired much better. Still sad to see, and btw I get the anger. I would have liked to see the guy run them all down vs. getting his *** kicked. Meh, but anger on anger doesn't help either. It's too bad this **** happens.

I couldn't watch the video. It's just something that doesn't need to be seen IMO.

Wow people are stupid, they filmed and then posted a video of them committing a crime.

Or he would be smart enough not to get off a freeway and go into crowded NY streets. I would kept driving down a freeway while on the phone with cops and have them come to me.

This is not a case of acting tough on the Internet, Eli. This is fact. If I'm with my wife and son and God forbid this happened, plenty of them would be dead. Theyre clearly trying to hurt me and my family so bumper cars it would be.

Exactly. I know my city like the back of my hand. I'd drive them straight up to highway 2 and have the RC pick their asses up in the act.

Yup...could have, should have... but when you're scared as **** you don't always think logically the way you would behind a computer, thinking of options in a relaxed manner. Saying we would have faired the same as the guy, or worse, but can we honestly say we would have done better? When the mind is racing and fear has you backed into a corner, logic sometimes get thrown out of the window.

Wow, crazyness there. Bikes are cool but there are some real crappy motorcycle drivers out there. Drives me nuts.

This is true as well but not all of us can fall under that category either. Making a relaxed judgement behind a computer as you say. I know this, I pray to God i'm never in that position. For my family's sake that is. I'm not Hercules either.
