Although I wonder if it's really an MGS reference, I hope it is, has Kojima ever said anything about the Arkham franchise? I know he's a big fan of GTA and at one point of Assassin's Creed too.

I just got the "real" ending and I'm disappointed.

If anyone has theories on it I'd like to hear them.

My personal interpretation is:

The Knightfall Protocol was a contingency if Bruce's secret ever went public. As depicted heavily from the post-main story gameplay- the criminals of Gotham simply aren't afraid of Batman anymore, not to mention the mountains of legal issues that Bruce will inevitably face, not just from the people he assaulted, but also from operating outside the law. Essentially, Bruce Wayne, Batman and Wayne Enterprise are finished.

The Protocol could imply that Bruce staged his death to counter those issues, but also break his ties from those close to him, such as Barbara, Tim, Grayson and Fox, among others. So for all we know, he's alive and well.

However, the narrative throws a wrench at the viewer by having the the us not privy to the actual "death", meaning that the explosion could also be a criminal act for all we know. Then there's the Bat creature at the end, which appears after a significant amount of time has passed (Gordon became the mayor and Barbara and Tim are getting married). This could be Bruce Wayne utilizing the fear toxin of sorts, but I'd rather not take things at face value.

I think that the point was that Bruce Wayne's tenure as Batman as we know is has definitely ended, but another point was (and one demonstrated vividly in BTAS) Gotham will always need a Batman. Who or what that appears on the rooftops is irrelevant.

Well, that's my 2 cents anyway. I didn't liked the ending at first, but I'm more receptive to it now.

Unfortunately, Kojima's love for the Dark Knight only lies in the Nolan movies. It's funny how he constantly refers to Naughty Dog, GTA and many other AAA games but not Batman.

I don't think he even knows Batman Arkham exists. He constantly praises the technical mastery of Assassin's Creed, but those games have a tradition of being broken and hilariously glitched beyond belief.

I just hope the DLC, I'll be frank and say as much I'm head over heels in love with the Arkham games, even I would admit the DLCs tend to be overpriced and unsatisfying.

This is pretty much my theory except I was thinking the shadowy figure that shows up at the end was Bruce/Batman, but he’s finally given up his Bruce Wayne identity and stays in the shadows 24/7 as a full time hero. I think you might be right though, my theory is a little bit too much of a stretch, even by comic book standards. I have a lot of issues with the ending though, mainly how could people think Bruce is dead? I’m sure they would have had to verify two bodies in that explosion.

Then the whole faking his death to keep the ones he loves safe is a bit ridiculous, because they are crime fighters themselves. They will always be target as long as they’re getting in the way of Gotham’s villains.

Another thing done poorly is having Batman retire due to everyone finding out he’s really Bruce Wayne, yet even after his unmasking everyone “Bruce Wayne” loved was just fine, but everyone that Batman was working with was always in danger seems to me he should have thought about retiring way before the unmasking, there was no need to have him unmasked, felt like that was done for shock value.

The ending felt like a lazy cop out to keep the door open for future sequels in my opinion, it felt like a less thought out version of TDKR ending. I would have preferred a less ambiguous ending.

When I think of all the possible theories, I can’t think of one that actually works for me. Rocksteady really dropped the ball on this.

I think it will be a little bit better than those. Paid DLC is usually at least a little better than the freebies for preorder.

I'm missing 6 riddler trophies and, I believe, two destructible objects on Founder's Island, and I can't help but chalk that up to the fact that, when I called in the Batmobile, it barreled through some of the thugs in front of me, including a Riddler thug, earlier in the game.

Yes they do, you'll just have to keep looking if you accidentally KO'ed one of them. Usually they respawn in the same island.

Have you went underground at the shipping docks with the Batmobile yet? I was searching high and low for more Riddler informants until I realized that I actually already have all of them. The last batch of trophies (which were six I think) were underground near the docks.

I must say, that was a pretty awesome boss fight. That was a fantastic scene between Bruce and Selina, as well. I just finished the Joker sequence. Amazing stuff. Do we get to use the Jokermobile again, or is that last unlock slot for the prototype Batmobile from Wal-Mart?

Ah, I gotcha. It was an awesome moment; it would've been cool to get a character trophy of it, though. As for the main story, I just watched Scarecrow get jabbed in the neck by his own fear toxin. The unmasking of Batman was a fantastic moment, as well. I'm almost finished, but not yet. I had to run out real fast, so, it's suspended and my PS4's in sleep mode until I get back, but I'm definitely finishing it tonight (err, this morning). As for the most wanted stuff, everything's done, now. I did all of it before turning myself in to Scarecrow, so, I should get the complete ending.

Colin McFarlane and Keith Szarabajka (Loeb and Stephens from TDK), Michael Rosenbaum from JL and Beyond, Loren Lester, the original Robin, was even in there. Really cool to see stuff like that.

So I'm ****ed. There is a riddler trophy that was on Stagg's Airship Beta. Well it's guarded by 2 sentries, and the the trophy flew out the opening. I checked to see if there was land....nope, just water. Anyone know how to go about it? I assumed it would have given it, but I realized that was the only trophy I'm missing on all of Stagg's.



Also there is one final missing trophy at AK HQ, but I think it takes place between the drill battle between the North and South Headquarters. I have the strategy guide, but the writer was a POS. Definitely the worst guide I've ever had.

The trophy from Stagg's Airship is towards the top coast of Founders Island on a little jetty, you have to drop the box out of the airship to smash it on the rocks to get the trophy it took me ages to find it though because it doesn't get marked on the main map

There are also no trophies between the north and south part of the HQ, you're probably missing one in the north section that massive air vent did my head in at first especially trying to spot the little drones because they don't show up in detective vision

The trophy isn't in the tunnels, but when I am in the South HQ, there is a trophy on the bottom left. It isn't in the lobby. I assume there is an entrance point, but I see none.
-When I look at the strategy guide, it shows it's the linking between North and South

It looks like it's the link way during the Arkham Knight Drill battle. I think it might be located near the area when you eject up the opening right before the drill destroys the Batmobile.

The only thing I can think of is that it's in one of the closed up shops in that section could try running the hacking device over the walls or maybe you can only get in via a floor vent, I should know because i cleared that room last night but I just can't remember but if it is in that tunnel it's possible I grabbed it during the story.

I know I was quite angry at the game after the battle with the drilling machine, though at that point I was quite happy to see the Batmobile go out

Damn, the Batmobile is AWESOME but it combines all the things I suck at...racing and shooting. I'm not much of a gamer. I've only played Madden (love me some football) and all the previous Arkham games. That's it. So the Batmobile is killing me in this game. It's literally taking me hours to get past some of the parts in this game that have the Batmobile in it. It's frustrating me to no end.
