Just got back.

Very, very mixed feelings. Some moments I absolutely adored, but there are other issues I had with character choices, pay off or lack thereof...

Raw feelings right now, MAJOR spoilers:

This was a beautiful showing for both Cap and Tony, even though I hated seeing Tony die. Seeing Cap not only pick up Mjolnir, but wield it like a boss several times was worth the price of admission alone. That he got his moment with Peggy was beautiful. "Avengers, assemble" was all kinds of epic. Both of those characters were done justice in terms of screen time and character arcs.

On the flip side, I almost hated both Thor and Hulk in this film. Ruffalo's take on Hulk Banner was just too goofy for me most of the time, and while Thor letting himself go and being drunk and ridiculous didn't bother me at first, how long it went on for after they got the plan together did. The scene with Frigga was almost ruined for me because of it. It was over the top ridiculous to me.

Speaking of Thor, I would've much, MUCH rather had a scene with Thor and Loki, especially after IW. Loki was barely even in the movie as it was, which was a huge freaking disappointment to me. That we didn't get any scene of them together, when their relationship was so central to the very first Avengers movie, put me off. Loki might as well have been a no show in this. After IW, I wanted something.

Hawkeye and Widow were both great in this film. Widow making the sacrifice made sense with her character arc - but that "Girl Power" tracking shot of the female characters made me think "ya'll just killed the best one". If anyone deserved to be in the front of that it's Natasha. I love most of those female characters, but I admit I almost rolled my eyes a bit. The "Assemble" scene after everyone came through Strange's portals already had me pumped.


I'm not a big Spidey fan, but I do like his relationship with Tony so seeing their reunion got to me. I've become super attached to T'Challa and the BP characters - seeing them come in together at the end, and when Steve and T'Challa exchanged their look put a smile on my face. Wish Okoye had gotten a bigger part in this since she survived the snap, but she didn't have much time.

Falcon Cap made me angry. I felt Bucky was all but ignored after the snapped characters were brought back - and his arc as Cap was something in the comics I loved. All the dramatic character potential lays with Bucky!Cap, not Falcon!Cap (which I would be cool with if they'd passed it to Bucky first). I'm not sure I'm going to watch the Disney show now with how strongly I feel about it. I'm not sure I can enjoy it. Sebastian Stan has been so wasted, and when there's room for him to shine, when it should be his time, they sideline him. I'm super disappointed with that.

This was a great showing for Cap, Tony, Hawkeye, Widow (until her death), Nebula (a favorite of mine now), Rocket and Scott.

Hulk and Thor were terrible in this. There's really no pay off with Hulk, either.

Too little Loki. Passing over Bucky like he's nothing. Losing Natasha........ I definitely find myself agreeing with some reviews I read beforehand where some said how you feel about the movie might depend on how you feel about the choices they made with characters.

I loved moments more than the actual movie, I think.... But I have to let it settle.

why some people feel bothered with Captain Marvel been an overpowered arrogant but don't feel the same thing with stark,thor, loki, quill and a few others in the MCU

I think the key difference between Captain marvel and others you mentioned is endearment, at least for me personally in this movie. She just felt...I dunno...snarky & distant/disconnected from everyone? Didn't get that vibe in her solo film; in fact I loved her representation there and look forward to rewatching it many more times on home video. Maybe it's to do with Endgame being done first before the CM solo and brie still finding her way around this character at that point.

That all-female shot gives hope there'll be an A-Force film somewhere down the line!

Just got back. So much movie. So much to process. But this is indeed the MCU's crowning achievement. And its glorious and it left me speechless. Infinity War and Endgame are like one massive comic book crossover event from beginning until end, for better and worse, but so many, especially Marvel's, are never able to stick the landing with that one last, final issue. This one does, and its off the friggin' charts. One of the best times I've ever had in a movie theatre watching a movie. That's my two cents.

Loved it. Marvel definitely stuck the landing IMO. I'm too tired so I'll wait to write a full review tomorrow, but in short I was so satisfied with this that it almost redeems Civil War and Thor 3.

There was only one thing I didn't like, just one.

Thor with that gigantic belly... I didn't think they could top Ragnarok, but the portrayal of Thor here was hands down the worst.

Other than that, I was fully satisfied. Will definitely see again.

4 out of 5. Could be better. I think the ultimate bluray can still push it to 5/5 if it includes a couple of extras.

I enjoyed it overall, IW I think was better, but this did well at ending the arc.

Being a big Cap fan I was happy with his ending. I do think it was rather predictable however as we saw the picture of Peggy a couple of times plus when he mentions about meeting the love of his life and then going into ice for 70 years. Still it was nice to see them dancing in the end.

I still found the time travel rules in the film a little confusing. Steve went back and married Peggy and lived out his life from then. So all the events that had happened still happened, but he would have just been a bystander? The life that Peggy lived without Steve still existed in this world for everyone except Steve?

Tony's death was sad, but rather expected. They did a great job with it though.

I wasn't too fond of Black Widow dying so early and before the battle. As the first female of the Avenger team it would have been nice for her to be there at the end.

Thor was way ott with the drunken yobbo act. It seems he had a personality transplant since Ragnorak. It was funny at first and then they just dragged it out for thr entire film. Nice scene with his mother back in Asgard. It seemed a bit sad that after everything he walked away from his people and is tagging along with the Guardians.

Hulk was a bit strange being a combination of the two. I always liked the fight Bruce had to have over the Hulk, so I don't know whether I like this new placid version so much.

So is it safe to assume that Loki and original Gamora are dead? They died before the snap so could not be revived.

Captain Marvel was annoying. She just seems like a miserable person with zero personality in this. Just wasn't a fan.

Sam becoming the new CA was not a surprise. Obviously Bucky knew Steve was not going to return from the past, so they didn't need a moment afterwards. It did however seem like Bucky got shafted for Sam in this.

One thing I wanted to see was how exactly did Steve just return all the stones in the past? Thanos and his men came to the future from that past, so would this past have just been restored once the stones were returned? Cap took Mjilnor with him, did he have to replace it in Asgard so that it would be there for Thor?

I definitely need to see it again to get all the details that I might have missed.

I thought it was amazing how they reconnected to so many of the previous films. Those that enjoyed/suffered through the marathon of all 22 films probably really enjoyed the pay off. I don’t know if Marvel had a meticulous game plan all along or pieced it together as they went but they absolutely stuck the landing on this. This deserves an Oscar nomination just for the sheer impracticality of this film ever existing. Nothing like this has ever been attempted in cinema. Maybe in a long running TV show with a great series finale but to do this on the Uber-blockbuster scale is something film students will study for decades to come. With the emotional build up of 11 years of films, this would fall flat on its face. It really banks on everything before it meaning something to the audience.

she was powered by an infinity stone just like Wanda, they are basically live batteries of unlimited energy (even so everyone loses in the x1 with thanos) she is Super powerful just like Thanos without the stones

When they have the final battle with Thanos he is just as hard to kill as when he had the gauntlet on... harder even. At the beginning of Infinity War when he beat Hulk he had the Power Stone, so I assumed that's why he was able to overpower him. That double-ended Final Fantasy sword he had could block Mjölnir and Stormbreaker too.
